Vet podcast recs

I'm looking for any podcast recs! Could be about school, research, or career experience. I know there's some older threads about this but from what I could find they're all at least a year old. Just checking if there's anything new out there

Any other couples have issues with season ticket seat selection?

My partner and I both put down deposits, but by the time we got to seat selection, a lot of big chunks were already reserved. The best 2 seats in our price range were alone, so neither one of us could purchase one without triggering the "no stranding a single seat" error. I ended up just buying both because I was worried about seats running out before I could get ahold of support.

I emailed them after to ask them to either give me his $50 credit or transfer one of my tickets to his account. I guess they weren't prepared to deal with this issue because they initially thought I was asking for a refund, but then transferred me to a different department (still haven't heard from them).

I have hope that they (or my sth rep) can resolve this, but I was wondering if anyone else had this happen since it seems like there isn't a protocol in place yet. It's entirely doable to have him venmo me for the tickets, but it wasn't my intention to be the sole ticket owner. Apparently someone also called him (independently of this issue) to ask why he never bought a ticket, and they implied you may be able to use a deposit towards tickets/merch in the future.

Animal vs. human med? Any advice appreciated

I'm trying to make The Career Decision and I'm lost on what to do. I did my school's prevet program, majored in Animal Science, and worked in a small animal clinic for 3yr with every intention to apply to vet schools, but I got drawn towards research and put it on hold. I've been working with lab animals for the past year since graduating, and it's become clear that research (at least right now) is just not as stable as I would hope.

So, in order to beef up my resume with some classes/internships/volunteer/etc. for next application cycle, I need to make a decision soon. My gpa is just average but I believe I have a lot of other things going for a potential vet application- I have pretty extensive vet, animal (companion, livestock, and equine), and research hours. However, since working in a cat/dog primary care clinic, I know that's not something I want to do long term. The client interactions burnt me out and I never got used to euthanasia. (Specifically pet euthanasia is hard for me, I have no problems with lab animals and livestock). But I'm worried that I'll get stuck there somehow instead of making it into a more desirable specialty. Just about every vet I've talked to has recommended against vet school and their main reasoning is the debt, but I'm very lucky to have my education fully funded so that wouldn't be an issue for me.

As for the human medicine idea- from what I understand, it's higher paying and less emotionally draining. I constantly hear about techs switching to human medicine. I think I'd be good at it in the same way I'm good with animal medicine, but it's not my passion. But if a cushy non-dream job means I can do animal stuff in my free time, then that would be a compromise I could work with.

Absolutely any advice about how you chose to go/not go to vet school would be appreciated!!

Intel from DTSJ's farmer's market

Allegedly.... tickets were supposed to come out TODAY but there's some delay with the SAP Center. AND the team name will NOT be ocean related but more aligned with the city of SJ. You can guess the name online for a chance at 2 free tickets.

Shoutout my boyfriend for grilling the rep.

1mo on Yaz/Loryna

Here is a log of my experience on Yaz/Loryna for anyone who's about to try it!

I have no pre-existing conditions that make BC dangerous for me, I'm 23, and I primarily decided to try hormonal birth control because my cramps and pms have become increasingly difficult over the years. The recent research on the interactions between the menstrual cycle and adhd/mental health were also taken into account. I don't plan on taking the placebos unless I have extended bleeding.

I started my first pack a few days before my period (I'll get into why I maybe don't recommend that). It delayed my period by about a week, and when it hit, I had extreme, sharp cramps late at night and early in the morning. A couple nights the pain actually woke me up. Before BC I would normally experience pain only in the late morning. My flow however was similar to the tail-end of my normal period with relatively low flow and very dark, chunky(sorry) discharge. These symptoms lasted for almost 2 weeks which is double my normal length. Right around the end of the megaperiod, I passed a deciduous cast which is exactly as nasty as it sounds. Throughout the whole deal I didn't experience typical PMS symptoms but naturally I was very fatigued when the cramps were at their worst. It's been about a week since then, and I've had no issues outside of user error (I accidentally skipped 2 pills and it started a 2-3 day period but it was very light with low-moderate cramps).

I'm definitely not a fertility expert, but I suspect that part of the reason I had such a bad period is because my uterine lining was already built up when I started the pill, and since there was a decreased hormone drop, it didn't realize it was supposed to leave. The directions don't say anything about this so it's also totally possible that it was just me. I was also traveling for most of the megaperiod so I used tampons instead of a disc which also could've made shedding the lining harder. I haven't used tampons or pads in many years though so that's just speculation based on what I've heard online. I hate thinking about how long that cast was plugged up there by the tampon(s) and I wonder if pads would've been the better way to go.

I won't lie, it was hell going through those 2 weeks especially while on vacation, but I absolutely plan on continuing. My biggest saviors were midol (although I've heard there are cheap alternatives for this, it's just a painkiller with caffeine and antihistamines), PM tylenol, a plug-in heat pad that automatically turns off so you can fall asleep with it on, and responsible gardening.

I'm more than happy to answer questions about the pill, megaperiod, getting the prescription, etc!

Edit forgot to mention: I did go up a full cup size and I haven't really had any breast pain.
