How to get out of the “one last vape” phase?

I vaped throughout college, and quit when I started my Masters program and moved to NYC. Lasted three years, and then one day I smelled someone vaping on the street and went and bought one.

I really regret that day. Now it’s 3.5 years later and I can’t get out of this cycle.

I’m sober from cannabis and alcohol, but the nicotine is the one thing I haven’t been able to get rid of.

Every time I buy one it’s the “last one”, and then the next one is the “last one”… and so on. I’ve even tried throwing them away before they’re done, using NRT of various kinds, but I’ve not made it more than 24 hours since I started back up again. The techniques I used to quit the first time just aren’t working.

Tired of wasting my money, time, and health on this.

Wondering if anyone who has been in this phase could offer a word of advice or your story of how you got past it? Thank you in advance 🙏
