Hi! I’ve been a very casual stamp collector for about 12 years now. Mostly, I just make it a regular habit to buy new stamps that come out that speak to me. I went to the Global Expo in Boston last month and learned about topical stamp collecting, and I think that’s what I’ve been doing! I collect animals, space, and architecture/design, but also just have a lot of miscellaneous stamps that I thought were cute. Most of my collection are mint sheets that I bought at my post office.

I recently decided I needed to get a little more organized, and incorporate the single stamps that I’ve been acquiring through people sending me mail and eBay.

I got a big 4” binder and the Grande sized stock pages from Leuchtturm/Lighthouse. I got the ones that are like one giant pocket (instead of a bunch of rows) because so many of my stamps are on larger mint sheets. But now my stamps are in a giant heavy binder, and I feel like I might not be organizing or displaying them efficiently. A have a lot of big pages with just one sheet or plate block on it.

Here are some questions I have that I’d love to hear your thoughts on:

1. Do you keep your collection in one giant binder/album, or do you break up your collection into different binders/albums?

2. Does it even make sense for me to be buying mint sheets? Or do I only need one of each stamp? Specifically when the whole sheet is the same stamp design, not different designs.

3. If your collection has a lot of larger mint sheets, how do you display them on the stock page? How do you display them with other single stamps?

4. What’s your organization system, especially if you’re a topical collector? By topic? By country? By year? I’m looking for inspiration here!

In generally, I would love to see photos of what your stock pages look like! Especially if you have stock pages that have sheets, plate blocks, and single stamps all on the same page.
