Summer 2027 family vacation ideas

I'm looking for ideas/feedback/inspiration for a summer 2027 trip. We're a family of four with two teenagers, and summer is unfortunately the only time of year where we can all be gone for a longer vacation.

Criteria:

  • Somewhere with cooler weather than our home in the southeastern US. We visited Spain, Portugal and France this summer, and it was wonderful, but we'd like to go somewhere away from peak summer heat.

  • We're not the type of family that wants to sit on a beach for a week straight. Our trip needs to have things to see and do.

  • Accessible flying out of ATL within ~15-18 hours travel time.

Ideas that we have so far:

  • Scotland. Top choice right now, we'd fly into London for a couple nights, train to Edinburgh for a few days, then spend several nights at Gleneagles.

  • Awasi resorts in South America, probably Patagonia paired with a few days in Santiago or Buenos Aires. Awasi Atacama and Patagonia look amazing, but I'm concerned my kids might get bored.

  • Northern Europe cruise. My kids love a cruise. Wife and I are pretty meh about them.

  • Western Canada including Vancouver and a rail trip to Lake Louise/Banff.

I'm not interested in anything in the Caribbean/Mexico/Hawaii. We've done that, but not this time. Any other ideas or feedback on the ideas above would be appreciated!
