10+ Yıldır sektörde sanallaştırma sistemleri , backup , storage , linux alanları üzerine son 4 yıldır Senior poziyonunda çalışıyorum. Çoğu zaman burada ki yeni mezun , okulu devam eden öğrenci arkadaşlarımız bana bazı sorular soruyorlar. Tecrübemi bilgimi homelab ortamımı paylaşa bileceğim bir yola girmek istiyorum Kick + Skool + Youtube gibi platformlarda bunları paylaşmak istiyorum. Aslında Yusuf İpek Can Değer , tarzı değilde daha sektörün içinden bilgiler verme gibi mentorlük gibi düşünüyorum sizce bu eksik olan birşeymi nabızları ölçmek istiyorum. Dostlar selamlar 10 yıldır system cloud tarafında çalışıyorum. Şuan telekominasyon operatorde çalışmaya devam ediyorum. Sistemci arkadaşlar bilirler Vmware Aria , VCF aşırı maliyetli ve arayüzü rapor çıkarması ayrı bir uzmanlık gerektiren bir tool. Bunun ben daha operasyonel daha hızlı dataya ulşatıran local LLM destekli bir ui 'ım var ayırca kurulum sürecide aşırı kolay ova deploy ile. Vcenterları tek ui da birleştirip vcenter scope a göre RBAC yapısıda var. Sorum şu herkes gibi marketing kısmını nasıl yürütmem lazım şuan release versiyonum yayında bu google , twitter reklamları aracılığıyla yapılacak bir iş değil. Linkedin üzerinden tanıtım yapıyorum ama çok seyrek dönüşler geliyor. Aslında sektörde fazla müşterisi olan bir Bilgi Teknolojileri çözüm ortağı şirketi lazıım bana. Teşekkürler

I’m looking for practical feedback from sysadmins who manage VMware environments.

For the last several months I’ve been working on a tool around VMware Day-2 operations, mainly based on problems I’ve seen in daily infrastructure work: inventory visibility, VM health context, snapshot tracking, deployment consistency, console access, automation, and making operational data easier to understand.

The main idea is not to replace vCenter. vCenter is still the source of truth. What I’m trying to understand is whether there is real value in having a separate operational layer that helps teams answer questions like:

Which VMs need attention?

Which snapshots are becoming risky?

Which environments are drifting or becoming harder to manage?

Which deployment steps should be standardized?

Which routine operations could be automated safely?

What kind of summary would actually help during daily checks?

I’m especially interested in what would make a tool like this useful or not useful in a real sysadmin workflow.

For those of you managing VMware day to day:

What information do you wish was easier to see?

What kind of dashboards do you ignore completely?

What would make you trust or distrust an operations tool?

Where do tools like this usually fail in real environments?

I’m not sharing any links here. I’m mainly looking for honest feedback from people who actually deal with this type of work.

I want to be upfront: this is a commercial product, not a FOSS project.

For the last 9 months I’ve been building a product called PilotHosts, mostly focused on VMware Day-2 operations. It connects to vCenter through the VMware API and is not meant to replace vCenter. The goal is to provide a cleaner operational layer for infrastructure teams.

The VMware side currently focuses on things like inventory visibility, VM health summaries, snapshot tracking, controlled VM deployment, browser-based VM console access, Ansible automation, and analytics based on deterministic infrastructure data. There is also some Kubernetes/OpenShift visibility, but VMware is still the core.

I made a mistake before by explaining it in a way that may have sounded like a FOSS project. That was not my intention, and I understand why that was a problem. I’m trying to be more transparent this time.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback from VMware admins:

• Does this type of product make sense for real VMware operations?
• Which features would be valuable, and which ones would you ignore?
• What would make you trust or not trust a tool like this?
• How would you expect trial access and pricing to work?

I have a short demo video and screenshots. If it is okay with the subreddit rules, I can share them.
