Quando este relógio apareceu no Ebay, não pensei duas vezes e o comprei, já que a Grande Guerra Patriótica ou Segunda Guerra Mundial é um assunto que me interessa. O relógio em si é um Raketa com o simples e robusto movimento 2609, com um mostrador comemorativo do 30º aniversário da vitória; o que é realmente interessante, no entanto, é a dedicatória na parte de trás da caixa.

A dedicatória menciona alguns detalhes; essencialmente, trata-se de um presente do KVO (Distrito Militar de Kiev) para Ilyuk P.V. (sobrenome e iniciais do veterano). Felizmente, o sobrenome não parece ser muito comum e, ao pesquisar no banco de dados "Memória do Povo", encontrei um homem chamado Ilyuk Petr Vasilievich, que nasceu e serviu na RSS Ucraniana, posteriormente recebendo a Ordem da Guerra Patriótica em 1985 (a ordem foi dada a todos os veteranos sobreviventes), o que indica que ele estava vivo quando recebeu o relógio em 1975.

Agora, a parte mais interessante: este homem recebeu a Ordem da Glória de 3ª Classe. Ao solicitar os registros por meio do arquivo do "Memorial do Povo", consegui acesso ao documento digitalizado que formaliza a nomeação. Pelo que pude apurar, ao liderar um ataque, eliminou 10 inimigos alemães com sua própria arma em um único confronto e, mesmo ferido por fogo inimigo, continuou combatendo até a retirada dos alemães, poucos dias antes do avanço final sobre Berlim (isso ocorreu em 01/05/1945 e a Alemanha se rende em 08/05).

Pelas marcas do relógio, foi bem utilizado, principalmente observando a coroa, que está bem gasta, mostrando o latão. Ainda funciona como deveria, apesar de estar sujo. Fico pensativa sobre o que levou essa peça a terminar em um marketplace qualquer, mas, de qualquer forma, fico feliz por conseguir restaurar e preservar essa história.

A while back, I wrote a post about which watch to choose as a first timepiece, but when this one popped up, I didn't think twice and snapped it up, since the Great Patriotic War is a subject that interests me. The watch itself appears to be a simple Raketa with a dial commemorating the 30th anniversary of the victory; what’s truly interesting, however, is the dedication on the case back.

The dedication mentions a few details—essentially, it was a gift for P. V. Ilyuk (the veteran's surname and initials) from the K.V.O. (the Kiev Military District). Fortunately, the surname doesn't appear to be very common; while searching the "Memory of the People" database, I found a man named Ilyuk Petr Vasilievich who was born and served in Ukraine and received the Order of the Patriotic War in 1985, indicating that he was indeed alive to have received this watch in 1975.

Now, for the most interesting part: this man received the Order of Glory, 3rd Class. Upon requesting records through the "People's Memorial" archive, I gained access to the digitized document formalizing the nomination. "On April 29, 1945, during the battle for the village of Fritzdorm (?), during an enemy crossing, Junior Sergeant Ilyuk engaged a group of soldiers and personally killed 10 German soldiers with his own weapon. Although wounded, he did not leave the battlefield until the enemy retreated.
Deserves the Order of Glory, 3rd Class."
