The plant I work at refuses to fire anyone. A lot of our new hires are worthless, and some of the people that were hired when I was are just as bad. I've been at this plant for probably around 5 years. How is it okay to come to work drunk multiple times in your first 30 days and still have a job? How is it okay to call in over 9 times and show up 7 hours late on a holiday in your 90 and still have a job? How is it okay for a PSE to abuse FMLA and be gone for 3 months, say she's fine, get converted, just to abuse it again. She only has FMLA cover 1 HOUR and call out for multiple days, then call in for over a month and not challenge it? After they already PROVED she was abusing it??

Like wtf is going on? I understand that the union protects people's jobs, but what the actual fuck. Then management goes around yelling at the people who actually just put their head down and do their job. Meanwhile, the people who disappear for 30 minute breaks and run the machines at 1/3 the speed they are supposed to get pats on the back. God forbid the good workers do that. They'd be pulled into the office and talked to about it.

Yes I get the Union should step in if we get pulled into the office, but this place is so dumb and broken I'm tired of even trying. It feels like a waste of time because it never changes.
