Justifying Platner

I’m an independent who likes to ca out both sides for things they do as I think everyone should regardless of their party. I’m also a woman.

I am sick to my stomach every time I see people justifying Platners behavior. Maybe you can convince me otherwise but hear me out too.

For years I’ve been against Trump for his behavior towards women. He hasn’t been convicted of rape and we don’t really have proof of that. When I mention there’s no actual evidence of Trump sexually assaulting anyone, democrats will often go back to, “well he’s still an awful person because of how he talks about women and he cheated on his wives. He was a player who treats women with no respect.”

Now I’m seeing so many democrats justifying Platners behavior and downplaying it like it’s nothing. I see that as hugely disrespectful to women and I don’t see how anyone can morally justify it while also hating Trump for the same behaviors. I’ve been cheated on and it sucks and the men who cheat often just see women as an object of pleasure, not as a human being they love. This is a big deal.

Platner cheated recently, and maybe has continued even now. That shows he doesn’t truly know how to respect women and treat them as people. It shows selfishness. It shows he hasn’t grown up or learned to look outside his own desires. It shows he’s willing to hurt those closest to him to satisfy his wants.

Really think about the damage he’s done here. Women who are cheated on often feel worthless and embarrassed. He knew he was a public figure and that what he does impacts others around him. His wife was publicly humiliated in front of basically the whole nation. And instead of withdrawing to save her more embarrassment, he has since opened her up to so much more with every new revelation about his terrible behavior.

How can anyone think that’s okay? How can anyone think that justifies him being in a position of power? If anyone is like me and is continually disgusted by trumps behavior from decades ago, how can you be okay with behavior that occurred likely within a year and may still be ongoing? At this point I’d truly rather have Mills and I hate her.
