How do you all deal with the fact that some guitars at the shop have old, corroded strings that can make them sound and feel worse than they actually are?

Do you ask for them to be changed by the staff? Do you suck it up and try to imagine what it should sound like?

I’m in the market for a pretty high end guitar and all of my local shops have them for sale but they all have almost unplayable strings.
