Hi all,
I just obtained a Gehl 4840E that I need to buy tires for. I’m trying to find the balance of wear and traction while minimizing damage to the surfaces I’m going over. The skid will spend half its time on a gravel lot loading logs on my sawmill then other half of the time will be used to retrieve logs in my relatively flat woods or from yard pickups around my area. I’m a fair weather user, I won’t take it out to do any of this during rain/snow or if especially muddy.
Does anyone have experience with more hybrid type tires in this use case? I am currently considering Galaxy trac star L-4. I have 10-16.5, but am not completely against going to a 12” wide - but also don’t want to spend on new rims if I don’t really need it.
