Estate sale find! Post gentle cleaning & conditioning. Is she black or brown? I thought black until I saw her in the light. Is the current color the work of patina, or was she always brown?

P.S. I would love to remove the hardware for cleaning and Brasso, but I‘m afraid I won’t be able to attach it right again.
