Facts

One thing that has always baffled me is how, for almost every affluent estate, there seems to be a struggling settlement just beyond its gates. It amazes me that, somewhere in Kenya, people can afford homes worth USD 1.5 million, while others, just a short distance away, cannot afford a single meal.

I once visited a village in Malindi (kule kwa Wachonyi), where families survived on macadamia nuts and water breakfast and supper. The poverty was heartbreaking. There was a mohter who was asking one of my friend to marry her daughter—not out of custom or romance, but because she believed marriage was her daughter's only chance to escape poverty.

Don't even get started with the M pigs 🐖 and our corrupt leaders getting in government, deliberately keeping the populars poor so as to have some form of control.
