My Techno/Electro EP, inspired by Gravity's Rainbow

https://vvessel.bandcamp.com/album/gr-dream

I created this EP during my reading of Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. I was highly inspired by maximalist literature, the behavior of systems and metaphysical gravity. I channelled these feelings; of emptyness, metallic structures and hollowness, into an electronic album.

Unlike the literature I like, this music is pretty minimal. I think that maximalist art is meant to be interpreted by the reader alone, as everyone can make different connections within the blur of maximalism.

It was made using mainly semi-modular gear (Pulsar-23, Lyra-8, 0-coast), and a few carefully placed samples. The sub is overwhelming at times, but that's a deliberate choice.

I hope someone will listen to it and let me know what they think of it.

Thank you!

Camping Balchemont

No drinking water, just 3 gross dixie toilets without lights, no showers, no electricity, rude camping personal when politely asking if there is any of the promised facilities. This all in 37 degrees. Nearest normal toilets / showers are a 50 minute trip. Wtf Spa, treat your guests to at least drinking water….

Comparing yourself to the greats

As a wanna be writer I can’t help but compare myself to the greats. Sometimes it’s hard for me to take a step back and remember what I’m writing is supposed to me my voice, not someone else’s. For instance, I just finished reading Gravity’s Rainbow by Pynchon and Im so blown away by his voice that I find myself wanting to equal him, not copy but be as good, as deep.

Does anyone else have this problem? Do your rolemodels get in the way of your own voice? To what extent do you let yourself be influenced?
