https://zh.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/鰂魚涌公園槍擊案

44 year old Zhan Xinjie (formerly known as Wei Chaoxia) arranged with her brother surnamed Wei to meet four uncles at a restaurant in Taikoo City to discuss the distribution of their grandmother's estate. At around 3 pm, the victims moved to Quarry Bay Park for further discussion. However, due to the inability to reach a consensus on Zhan Xinjie retrieving one of his deceased mother's inheritance, Zhan Xinjie took out a semi-automatic handgun from his pocket and fired at the elders at least four times, creating a loud "bang bang bang bang bang bang" sound. Four people fell one after another, with two of them suffering head injuries and unable to get up, while the other two were injured but conscious. Zhan Xinjie's brother surnamed Wei fled after witnessing the incident and reported it to the police.

After Zhan Xinjie committed the crime, he picked up his handgun and fled to the fourth phase of Taikoo City Center. A citizen followed and intercepted her, and together with security guards, they stopped her in the lobby on the second floor. Shortly after, members of the anti-terrorism special forces of the police rushed to arrest her with live ammunition. When Zhan Xinjie was arrested, he did not resist and remained calm. The police officer found a handgun and five bullets in her pocket. The involved handgun model is the Italian Beretta 950 Jetfire semi-automatic handgun, with a magazine capacity of eight rounds and an additional chamber capacity of one round.

Firearms involved in the Hong Kong "Dragon Slaying Brigade" case

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon\_Slaying\_Brigade

The Dragon Slaying Brigade is a radical organization in Hong Kong established in 2019 in response to the anti-extradition bill movement. It is considered to be the most militant faction within the radical faction, and its name is primarily a reference to the paramilitary riot police unit known as the "Raptor Squad" in the Hong Kong Police Force.

On December 20, 2019, plainclothes police officers followed and arrested a man in Tai Po. During the arrest, the teenager fired a shot at the police officers. A semi-automatic pistol and an AR-15 rifle were later found on the suspect and in his home. The police said the arrested gunman was a member of the radical and militant Dragon Slaying Brigade and originally planned to act as a gunman attacking the police during the International Human Rights Day march on December 8.

On January 17, 2020, Hong Kong police seized a P80 semi-automatic pistol and 92 rounds of ammunition from a unit in Kwong Yuen Estate, Sha Tin. 47 rounds were already loaded into seven magazines and ready to fire. A 27-year-old maintenance technician residing in the unit was arrested. Police believe he was a member of a "Dragon Slayer Squad" responsible for mailing gun parts to Hong Kong for reassembly and distribution to gunmen.

On April 21, 2020, a 20-year-old college student, suspected of being a member of the Dragon Slaying Squad, was arrested by Hong Kong police for allegedly making bombs at home using circuit boards.

After the Hong Kong National Security Law came into effect, on August 23, 2020, four members of the Dragon Slayer Squad, along with 12 others including Li Yu-hin, boarded a speedboat in Po Toi O, Sai Kung, intending to travel to Taiwan. They were intercepted and detained by the Chinese Coast Guard.

On April 23, 2024, the "Dragon Slaying Brigade" trial officially began. On August 29, 2024, of the seven defendants who pleaded not guilty, six were acquitted by the jury on all charges, and only one was found guilty of the alternative charge of "conspiracy to cause an explosion that is likely to endanger life or cause serious damage to property," while the charges of "conspiracy to murder" and "conspiracy to cause an explosion of a specified target" under the Anti-Terrorism Ordinance were not upheld.

On November 14, 2024, the seven defendants were sentenced in the Hong Kong High Court, with the two main perpetrators receiving sentences of 13 years and 6 months and 23 years and 10 months respectively.

The others were sentenced to 10 years, 10 years and 10 months, 5 years and 10 months, and 9 years in prison, respectively.

2017 Changshu Arson – 22 dead, 3 injured

At 4:30 a.m. on July 16, 2017, a fire broke out in a two-story brick-concrete residential building, Building 74, Caojing Second District, Changshu, Jiangsu, China.

Changshu police received a report from residents that a fire had broken out at Building 74, Section 2, Caojing New Village, Yushan Town. The 119 command center immediately dispatched 14 fire trucks and 71 firefighters to the scene, and the fire was extinguished at 5:28 a.m.

The incident resulted in 22 deaths and 3 injuries.

All the victims were employees of a restaurant called "Fourth Prince" in the World Trade Plaza of Yushan Town.

An investigation revealed traces of gasoline burning at the scene, and the escape exit was locked from the inside.

According to information provided by the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department, an on-site investigation revealed that the building that caught fire was a staff dormitory rented by the local "Fourth Prince's Private Kitchen" restaurant. After reviewing video surveillance footage from the scene and surrounding areas, the suspect has been preliminarily identified. Local police are making every effort to locate and apprehend the suspect, and the Suzhou and Changshu procuratorates have already intervened. Multiple highway checkpoints have been set up, and police are conducting roadside checks on drivers and pedestrians.

After several days of manhunt, the perpetrator, Jiang Zhongchun, was arrested. It is believed that he and the owner of the house he set on fire are cousins. After accumulating high-interest debt, Jiang Zhongchun repeatedly tried to borrow money from his cousin without success. He then wrote threatening words on the walls and, in the early morning while the people inside were asleep, brought gasoline into the house, poured it inside, and set it on fire, locking the door from the inside.

This case fully exposed the fire hazards in various buildings in the suburbs of Suzhou, prompting the Suzhou Municipal Government to implement rectification measures.

The deadliest shooting in Taiwan—the 1996 massacre at the Taoyuan County Magistrate's residence—resulted in eight deaths and one injury. The case remains unsolved to this day.

The Liu Bangyou massacre occurred on the morning of November 21, 1996, at the Taoyuan County Magistrate's official residence (now the Taoyuan City Police Department Building) in Taoyuan City, Taoyuan County, Taiwan. The shooting resulted in eight deaths and one serious injury, including then-Magistrate Liu Bangyou. Liu Bangyou thus became the first county/city head in Taiwan's local self-government history to be murdered while in office.

The victims were nine in total: Taoyuan County Magistrate Liu Bangyou, his confidential secretary Xu Chunguo, his driver Liu Bangming, his bodyguards Liu Mingji and Liu Bangliang, his Filipino maid Liu Rumei, Taoyuan County Councilors Zhuang Shunxing and Deng Wenchang, and Zhang Taomei, a technician from the Taoyuan County Government Health Bureau. The victims were abducted to the guard room of the official residence by two assailants wearing raincoats and shot in the head in a manner close to execution. A total of thirteen shots were fired, resulting in eight deaths and one serious injury. Only Deng Wenchang survived after emergency treatment.

All the victims were bound with duct tape and blindfolded.

The two thugs then fled the scene in Zhuang Shunxing's car. Deng Wenchang's secretary, Liang Meijiao, was taken hostage in the back seat and was forced out of the car but was not killed.

When forensic investigators arrived, the crime scene had already been disturbed by paramedics rushing to treat the victim. The *Times Weekly* reported that some officers did not wear gloves while collecting samples at the crime scene, further damaging the area. Furthermore, the perpetrator's actions defied common sense, making it difficult for police to determine who the killer was targeting and what the purpose was. The sole survivor, Deng Wenchang, suffered severe brain damage and memory impairment, preventing him from testifying; another witness was also unable to testify due to persistent mental health issues.

According to Liang Meijiao's testimony, the two hostages claimed in their conversation that the county magistrate was too arrogant and therefore shot him, with one of the hostages referred to as "Third Brother." Police found inconsistencies in Liang's testimony, initially suspecting she was withholding information or that the hostages were deliberately misleading the investigation.

On November 20, 2016, the 20-year statute of limitations for prosecution in the Liu Bangyou murder case expired. Wang Yiwen, chief prosecutor of the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office in Taiwan, said that the statute of limitations refers to "objects that have never been investigated"; if someone has been listed as a suspect during the investigation, the statute of limitations will be extended; the prosecution will adopt the most lenient standard to determine the case, and the task force will not be disbanded or the investigation will be stopped because of this.
