When Ena introduced her little brother to Mafuyu, she felt a weird connection to him. It felt like they knew each other for several years despite meeting only months ago. Akito understood Mafuyu so well, even though she couldn't understand herself. Time passed, and they begun developing romantic feelings for each other. Being both rather shy, they didn't try to rush into an official relationship. If it weren't for Ena, who pushed Akito to confess, they might have never addressed those feelings.
Days after they became official, Akito asked Mafuyu for a talk. His tone was serious and had a hint of nervousness, which made Mafuyu worried. She didn't know what to expect.
This conversation couldn't leave Mafuyus head for weeks. She knew about the concept of being trans thanks to Mizuki, so it didn't surprise her. She didn't think it was a big deal. Yes, her boyfriend is trans, but it concerned her as much as the fact that he had orange hair or was tall. So why does she feel this way? It was anxiety and happiness mixed with hope... Hope? Why would she feel hopeful right now? Questions were racing in her mind. The constant discomfort that Mafuyu felt suddenly intensified and she started sobbing without even noticing. It was all so confusing but the truth felt so much closer than before.
At the Empty Sekai, where Mafuyu spends most of the time, nobody was present. The peaceful quietness of the space is why she goes there when the feelings get unbearable. All alone, Mafuyu just wanders around. While walking, she heard a singing voice. The lyrics were filled with pain and agony, but the vocals sounded hopeful. Upon closer look, Mafuyu saw that it was Kaito who sung the song. He turned around to face Mafuyu. He seemed to be worried about something.
To the surprise of both of them, Mafuyu started to cry. This question caught her off guard. Barely able to breathe, Mafuyu tried to speak. Every single unspoken word, buried in the depths of the mind, came out. Emotions, once forgotten, came back to the surface. It was the most Mafuyu had ever cried. It felt freeing, and the heavy weight felt in the heart started to dwindle. As it often happens in Sekai, finding out ones true feelings gives birth to a new song. And Mafuyus true feelings gave birth to this beautiful song. Kaito invited Mafuyu to sing, and so they sung their hearts out, together. ♪ Now free from shackles of perfection, with newly found acceptance of oneself, the answers didn't keep you waiting any longer. Allow the truth to guide you through this hell. ♪
