CTA done incorrectly

My CTA was done incorrectly, checking my body during inhalation instead of at maximum expiration. I still have a long way until I can see my doctor, and I am very anxious because of this. According to the radiologist, the J-hook is present, but no stenosis can be observed. My ultrasound earlier recorded increased velocities (230).

What will happen now? I am very anxious about repeating the CTA, as this is already the 8th one of my life.

Could this be MALS?

Hello everyone,

I am a 26 YO male. After years of postprandial pain, I started to wonder if I might have MALS. Based on some stories here, some symptoms seem to match, while others not at all. I got an appointment for November in the state healthcare system, so I have plenty of time to suffer with overthinking. I want to ask if anyone has the same symptom profile as me:

  • Pain in the sternum area that starts 5-10 minutes after eating, and may last up to 4-5 hours. Often, it "goes" lower to the navel. It is a dull pain.

  • No symptoms worsening from light exercise (running, badminton etc.)

  • No symptoms worsening from standing up/sitting down, nor any specific postures

  • Alternating constipation and diarrhea

  • I lost 8 kgs since the start of my illness 4 years ago going from 59 to 51 kg. Of course initially it was thought to be a GI disease, so I cut out lots of food. I see that symptom descriptions for MALS usually mention that the person avoids food. I don't avoid food per se, I love eating, but it always causes me pain.

  • After extensive GI workup, nothing was found (mild inflammations here and there, but doctors say they are non-specific) and they just sent me home with IBS

  • My pain is usually dull, but debilitating. Rarely (once a week) I have cramping pain, followed by diarrhea. This is usually not tied to any specific trigger food

Thank you for your help!

Blastocystis Hominis persistence despite negative sample PCR

Hi All,

First of all, I am not seeking medical advice. I am simply curious of the opinions of parasitologists on the below topic.

I read a study (https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0121173&hl=en-GB#:\~:text=This%20study%20implicates%20that%20detecting%20Blastosystis%20by,the%20parasite's%20irregular%20shedding%20in%20Blastocystis%2Dinfected%20stools.) which indicates that negative stool samples are not necessarily indicative of blastocystis clearance, as it was found that many patients with a negative stool PCR were indeed positive when a PCR was performed on their colonic mucosa.

In light of this, how indicative is a negative stool test in your opinion? I know that previously, this was the established golden standard for testing.
