My cousin and I imagined that if there was multiplayer, each of us could explore a floor, and if one of us discovered an item, the other wouldn't discover until you can identify the item as well. In other words, if you needed a healing potion but hadn't yet identified one, you would have to trust that your friend had given you the right potion.
