Vancouver for a long weekend?

Hello, I live in California and was thinking of doing a solo trip to Vancouver for a weekend (Thursday night - Sunday) or Monday if needed!!

Give me recommendations for what to do? I like walking (not too intense hikes) shopping, plants, coffee, art and history!

Also I don’t love the heat so what’s the weather like there in june?

I want to go to the bloedel conservatory, the aquarium (if it’s ethical!!)

Is it worth it to do a Saturday day trip to Bowen island?

Best places to watch a sunset?

Do I need to rent a car or can I rely on transit/ubers?

Also recommendations for where to eat!!

Volunteer opportunities?

Hello all, I have had a very hard time trying to find somewhere to volunteer. I am looking for anything to do with animals, environment, food banks, helping elderly, etc. I DO work a full time job and that seems to be the issue as most opportunities are during the day.

I would like something recurring every week at the same time, either a few hours after 5pm or a few hours on the weekend. Also hoping to meet more people in the community and figure doing something at the same time each week is a great opportunity to see the same faces.

I have done a few things but it is usually one off opportunities and I would like something easy to build into my schedule. Or a system where I can easily log in and sign up for a few shifts. A few places I’ve looked (food banks, padres volunteer team, father joes) are usually filled up months in advance. Additionally the humane society has some steep requirements for volunteering.

I have never had so much trouble trying to volunteer my time before !!

Also places like habitat for humanity aren’t even accepting new volunteers at this time!
