Question about Rebuild / i6 & V8
Hello everyone, I am finally getting around to start diving into rebuilding my 1966 Mustang. I have an earlier post about it, but essentially I have a stripped down frame and not a lot of the original parts.
It originally had an i6 engine which I am looking into seeing if its salvageable for use. My question is with having to buy most of the parts including the whole front and rear suspension, drive train, steering rack, etc. can I go ahead and purchase and use the beefier V8 parts even if I drop the i6 back in it? If the original motor is shot, I am going to drop an 289 or 302 in it most likely.
I rather future proof if I can and already purchased an 8-in rear with disk brakes and five lug pattern, with the plan to have disk brakes and five lugs all around. Thanks for the help with this, I frankly am not very knowledgeable and this is all a big learning curve/experience.
