154 days later I finally have a visa

This is meant to be a PSA for other non-EU citizens who are applying for work visas in Denmark. I received a job offer in March and soon after applied for my visa via the positive list for people with higher education. In May I received a letter stating that my salary was not high enough for someone with my experience in my specific field, and the overtime clause in my contract did not meet Danish standards.

For anyone in a similar position I’ll tell you this: If you receive a similar letter from SIRI, do everything you can to have your company update your contract to meet what SIRI is asking for. In my case, my company tried to explain why my salary and overtime were set that way, and it only lead to months of delays and ultimately we learned it was almost guaranteed to end up as a rejection. This only worked out for me because the company decided to update my salary to the minimum that SIRI shared in July + they completely changed the language in my overtime clause.

If anyone has questions please send them my way and I’ll help however I can. Good luck
