Is it just me or does almost every engine here looks vibe coded?

Almost every post of 'look at my new cool engine' sort looks the same. The huds are almost the same with the same layouts, sometimes ui theme is different. I see no variability in how the programs are layed out, what they do or anything.

It all looks like a unity ripoff, not to dunk on unity, but it looks like someone:

a) does not have any creative vision. But to make an engine you are probably stubborn and should have some ideas of your own if you made it such far

b) everything is premade by claude or some other llm

I dont want to only say llm bad, but it kinda reminds me of those videos where we see how chatgpt memorised 15 websites layouts ans maked them look slightly different. The only difference chatgpt knows one game engine look

Feature question

Does odin language hase something akin to alloca from c? Sometimes i want to just stack allocate an array of runtime determined size. I cannot find any builtin function or allocator i can pass in into make(). Am i missing something?

Why is metroid prime remake so praised? I really don't get it

So i have purchased a copy of metroid prime remake. I bought it because of all of the stellar reviews about both remake and original game. I played hollow knight and super metroid and liked them very much so i thought this one would be the same, but i either don't understand this game or it has aged very poorly. To start things of:

The moment to moment gameplay is not fun at all - shooting feels bad, it is not precise, game is designed to use autoaim so shooting is not very satisfying. Also the creatures are not fun to shoot at, they don't react to being hit, like they don't care or anything, there is no satisfying feedback. And don't tell me about the bugs i have to aim and kill all! They are horrible!

But okay the game is not a shooter by genre, it is metroidvania (duh), but it isn't very good being one also! In hollow knight, or super metroid zones are interesting, new items feel like they give you superpowers or at least you know what to do with them! Here you have to go thru a maze of corridors and tunnels (which are very clearly made in such a way to give gamecube time to load the proper level), find some enemy to kill (which is not satisfying) and maybe you will unlock some upgrade like WOW NEW BLASTER! WHO CARES ABOUT A NEW BLASTER TO OPEN NEW DOORS. Give some movement abilities or maybe idk a whip or something to make gameplay varied! And morph ball is not an answer because of how bad it feels to play and switch in and out of.

The third point I have is that this game feels very clunky! For example if i want to scan something i have to press 2 buttons that are not very intuitive, it is small thing but they add up. Or when i want to travel faster there is this awfull animation of morphing into or from morph ball! It makes using it very unfun! Or just to travel i have to open map menu which takes time. In hollow knight i can just see the map quicly by pressing RL on a coy con, but here the whole game stops!

The bosses are also very bad! You go around and and shoot an object, where we established earlier that shooting is not games strong suit! And then the reward feels... nonsensical! Why is it that by killing an overgrown plant by i make a magical token with S appear which makes me immune to heat!? Is it me or doesn't it make any sense!? 2d metroid were a lot more symbolic in their desigh because of 2d-ness but here things happen because they happen. (Also why did a plant grow specifically on top of huge burner machine with movable mirrors)

I really want to like this game but it feels bad: bad to control, bad to explore new levels, bad to solve puzzles! Why didn't game hint me anyhow to scan the runes in the grass/forest zone! I stumbled upon it on accident when i pressed wrong button! It feels random and clunky...

Is there someone that could correct me? Maybe i don't get something? Or maybe i am not the only one...

(ps. I managed to get to the snow level and get the zooming morph ball upgrade but i don't feel inclined at all to play more)
