Having sailed locally in Seattle for some years I am looking to go further afield. I’ve been looking at the Arksen 85 again, which I like because of its range, autonomy, redundancy, 180 degrees of stability (very rare in a motor yacht), its digital twin approach, shoreside support, finance packages, co-ownership and charter opportunity if I want it. I also like that they do experiences and shore side concierge. No company or boat is perfect but I’m attracted to how they have tried to establish a new model around a clever platform and used that to support customers, science and even film making (They co produced Ocean with David Attenborough). Has anyone got experience with their larger boats? They did a 50m version (basically a bigger Arksen 85) with Humphries Yacht Design and they have some new smaller boats coming out this year I think. I looked at the old Dashew FPBs too - but these are pretty legacy now, although Steve is a legend. Of course there are the Flemings and Nordhavns and many others but mostly these are quite standard - none of which are built to a commercial code and few I would trust to take me across an ocean. Any help gratefully received.
