My chinchilla seems happier alone?
Hey guys, I’d like some advice.
My chinchilla, Haven, has been with me for about 6 years now. About 3 months into owning him a lot of people had told me to buy a friend for him since they’re very social animals. I had bought him a partner and his whole personality changed. He went from social to timid and shy. I had properly introduced the two and eventually they tolerated eachother. The new chinchilla, Heaven, started to not let him eat until he was done, and overall seemed to bully him. I separated the two and now Haven seems like his old self again. Was buying a friend a bad idea? Heaven seems to be depressed without his friend but Haven seems to be doing much better.
Overall, I just wanted to know if some chinchillas prefer to be alone? Despite social media, Haven seems to not need a companion but Heaven does. Along with that, should I look into rehoming Heaven? I really don’t want to buy a friend for Heaven, especially if he will bully the friend too :(
