L1 experience Aug 19

Just gave L1 today, was weirdly calm leading up to it and on the way to the exam center.

AM session was relatively decent, had time to go across questions and review everything, took the full 2+ hours.

Walked out of AM session with a headache that was gradually getting worse and regretted not carrying any meds for the same.

Nevertheless thought I’ve prepped so much and that I didn’t come this far to to not try on the PM session, but I kid you not as the time went by on PM i felt worse and worse, taking it one question a time somehow getting to the finish line.

By the time i was done, i felt completely exhausted, passed out on the cab back home and eventually threw up as soon as i got home

Overall have this weird uncertainty of how bad would the damage be considering the potential for impaired judgement due to the headache, apart from that i feel the exam was pretty decent.

Did you find Mock B more challenging than Mock A?

As the title suggests i found Mock B rather challenging In comparison to A. In the sense that I found myself taking more time on this mock than any previous ones and had quiet a few questions where I felt not entirely sure of the answer.

Scores didn’t fall off drastically, but after Mock A which was quiet a confidence boost, i feel like Mock B was tricky by design in order to humble me lol

Ethics doubt

A member is developing allocation procedures for block trades and new issues.

According to the recommended procedures for compliance with the Standard relating to fair dealing, the member’s allocation procedures should include:

A. giving consideration to advanced interest when allocating trades for new issues.
B. bundling orders on a first-in, first-out basis for efficiency as appropriate for the asset class.
C. giving client accounts participating in a block trade execution prices corresponding to order arrival time.

I’ve chosen A but the answer Key says B, unsure about this one

GIPS doubt

Firm has 500m AUM, including 50m non fee paying and 75m non discretionary portfolios. Should the composite be 425m or 375m under GIPS

The answer key says 375m while I’ve got 425m and I’m not entirely sure if non fee paying must not be included or do firms have the option to add them but can avoid adding if deemed fit.
