First Holly Humberstone show in Tokyo at duo music insane was an absolute core memory. I am actually still floating on air. I'm pretty new to her music but this easily turned into one of the best nights of my life. The pre show struggle was real because I arrived at 4:30 pm with ticket number 364 out of 700 and was stressing out because I had to hold my pee the entire time before doors opened even tho doors opened at 6 pm.
But the second I got inside the adrenaline completely took over and the urge vanished! I ended up meeting a fellow Holly fan near the back building after the show which turned into a hilarious mini side quest to check the main entrance because we both thought surely Holly would come out the back building but our gut feeling told us to check the main entrance. Sure enough she was right there! I managed to get a picture and a signature on my vinyl which happened literally ten days before my birthday easily the best early birthday gift ever.
I was slightly sad the staff was telling everyone there were only 5 min so I couldn’t have proper convo with Holly but I can’t. Complain. I added the guys number and we became friends even tho he’s in his 20s.
Once the show started, the venue vibe was immaculate. The setlist was incredible, and she even played an unreleased song called too cute to be lonely which was hilarious and amazing to hear live. Holly looked like she was genuinely having so much fun on stage, her smile was everything and the crowd energy was unreal. If you guys are going to see her live definitely try to stay after the show and meet her because she loves interacting with fans and she is so sweet 💗
Honestly I think there are not a lot of Japanese fans for Chandol Bhutanese I’m from Japan and noticed the lyrics were compeletely blank because Spotify only accepts lyrics from a platform called petit lyrics (プチリリ)
I just spent the day manually uploading and hand syncing all 12 tracks of Mercurial. If anyone else happens to be listening to these songs in Japan, hopefully, the lyrics will sync on the Spotify app over the next week or two.
Apparently every country except Japan in the world uses musixmatch database so I helped anyone discover Chandol in Japan or tourists/expats which is kinda hilarious lmao
Has anyone here met Holly after a show recently? I'm going to Holly's solo show at Duo at shibuya in tokyo on August 13th and I'm wondering what people's experiences have been meeting her after shows
I've seen a few older posts where fans said they waited after the show and Holly eventually came out to meet people, sign things, and take photos. I'm curious if this is still something she does fairly regularly especially on this current tour.
I'm hoping to bring my vinyl jacket and if I get the opportunity ask her to sign it. Obviously I know there's no guarantee she'll come out and I wouldn't want to bother her if she's tired or doesn't have time. I'm just curious what people's experiences have been recently. Has anyone here met her after a show in 2025/2026? How long did you wait and was she able to spend some time talking with fans?
Does anyone here even know this show exists? I feel like the Summer Sonic Extra gigs are getting completely overshadowed by the main festival weekend lineups. I’m going to the headline set at duo music exchange on August 13th. I'm really curious to see how many people are actually planning to show up for this.
I'm Japanese so I'm especially curious if there are any other locals on here going, or if it's mostly going to be expats and tourists coming from other countries. Drop a comment if you have a ticket
You guys know that there was a scene of charley and his friend setting the football on fire but did you guys know that there's actually a video of them doing that on tiktok? It's not on Instagram or anywhere else, and since I barely use tiktok I almost missed it. Thoughts?
The physical packaging is so perfect. The paper feel of the jacket, the inner sleeve graphics and the electric smoke marble pattern looks beautiful. It also came with the signed insert picture!
When I tried to add my vinyl to my discogs collection, it didn't exist, so I made the page so everyone else who got a copy can add it to their collection now.
Small spotify update I noticed today. Chandol now has the verified by spotify green badge on his profile which is really cool to see.
It feels like another nice milestone for the project after mercurial released and started getting editorial playlist support. I also noticed something interesting with the singles. Breakfast in Bed, 2002, and What's the Rush used to show their original single artwork in the Popular section but now they've all switched to the mercurial album cover while keeping the exact same stream counts.
My guess is that spotify has linked the single releases to the album versions so it recognizes them as the same recordings rather than treating them as separate songs. That means the streams from the singles carry over to the album version instead of starting from zero which is why Breakfast in bed still has over a million plays and the other two kept all of their streams as well.
It's a really small detail and I know most people probably wouldn't even notice it but I'm the kind of person who finds this stuff interesting. 😅 There's something satisfying about seeing the whole profile become more unified. The verification badge and the updated artwork are tiny changes in the grand scheme of things but they make the profile look much more polished. Hopefully, when new listeners discover chandol through playlists or recommendations they'll land on a profile that feels professional.
I don't know if many of you have noticed this but if you check chandol's featured on section on Spotify, Doubt is appearing across multiple new music friday regional playlists, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Korea, and China.
That’s honestly pretty cool to see. It looks like Mercurial isn’t only being carried by the existing fanbase but spotify is putting the song in front of listeners across different regions. What’s especially interesting is that they chose doubt so it’s cool to see that song getting attention and being used as a discovery point.
For an artist who has taken such a quiet rollout this is kind of crazy. No huge promotion just the music slowly building momentum and now getting more exposure. Maybe people haven’t been talking about it much yet but this feels like a really important moment for the chandol era. It’ll be interesting to see if more people start discovering Mercurial over the next few weeks. This feels like a pretty important moment for the chandol era.
A human editor may have selected it or Spotify’s systems may have surfaced it for editorial consideration. We don’t know exactly how it happened but either way it’s really cool to see and yeah
Disclaimer: I'm not saying people can't criticize the album. If it isn't your thing, that's completely fair. I'm just talking about some of the reactions I've been seeing.Honestly, seeing the early reactions across reddit the chaos and confusion shouldn't surprise anyone. In fact, it's exactly what Charley needed to happen.
We are watching an artist go through the inevitable painful but completely necessary transition that happens when someone chooses raw artistic expression over sticking to a formula that everyone already expects. A lot of the existing fanbase came in during the boywithuke era, so naturally many people were hoping for something closer to that sound. Instead, they got a short, 30 minute debut instead. That's going to be jarring, especially on a first listen. I've already seen people wishing the studio version of Doubt sounded exactly like the live version they had memorized or focusing more on missing snippets than the album itself. Of course, not everyone is reacting this way. I've seen plenty of people praising the album and having genuine discussions about it. But some of the loudest complaints seem less about the music itself and more about the album not matching the version they'd already built in their heads.
But honestly this means chandol is winning. Think about it. If Mercurial dropped and every single kid instantly gave it a 10/10 and said omg this sounds just like Burnout, it would mean Charley failed. It would mean he didn't actually break the mold. The bickering, the friction, and the complaining about song lengths or missing snippets is living proof that he accomplished exactly what he set out to do, he challenged the old expectation.
Like a few people have already said in the comments here if you're disappointed that this doesn't sound like 2021, take that as your cue to exit. An artist cannot build a sustainable, lifelong career if they are constantly held hostage by a stagnant community attached to snippets. He needs this filter. He needs the crowd that just wants predictable tracks to fall away so that a fresh audience one that actually respects raw instrumentation, genuine emotional honesty and mature growth can fill the room.
It sucks seeing the rollout get buried under complaints only an hour after release but I genuinely think this album will age incredibly well. Years from now, I wouldn't be surprised if people look back on Mercurial as the project that drew a line between the old era and the new one.
So before writing it off, give it a few proper listens. Put on a good pair of headphones let the album be what it wants to be instead of what you expected it to be, and then decide how you feel. For me, it's an incredible debut. 🎧💎
I started collecting vinyl in December 2024, and since then my collection have been growing steadily. I really want to buy more vinyl's because there's more music that I listen to like older music but it's just expensive haha.

I think this was taken in rural Nagano in Japan when I was 2 years old. I don’t remember anything. It is a legendary pic. If I was an artist I would 100% use this. Imagine a parental advisory label in the corner
I don’t plan to make any music but if I ever do would this look nice?
