Danchee Ridgerock Upgrades

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my Ridgerock build so far. A lot of people say to go with something more expensive or youll end up paying more to upgrade your ridgerock. I think they are wrong! I am a newer RC crawler but also an experienced fabricator and gearhead. I wanted to share the upgrades Ive done to my Ridgerock to make it compete with the big dogs. The build is not finished but I will include information about the final bits to make this car out perform most others.

First upgrade:

Pitbull Rock Beast II Tires on the foams that came in the original Ridgerock wheels. It gives it that tire squish. It helps a lot with grip but is perhaps a bit too soft and has no sidewall strength.

I will in the future invest 40-100$ for some weighted wheels Ive seen in store, and run traditional foams or 3D printed foams.

Second Upgrade:

Metal Steering Links. I made mine custom from some traxxas rod ends at a local shop and some 5/32 rod. I hear you can use some SCX10 or Redcat Everest 10 Steering Links with little to no modification.

Third Upgrade:

Upgraded servos. I put in the Eco Power WP110T as recommended by the shop. They are plenty stronger than the original. With the metal links the original servos just get stuck so these give you that power you need to turn the wheels when theyre under pressure.

Thats all Ive done so far. Aesthetically I plan to maybe paint the body? Maybe make something cutom utilizing the original body/cage. So far Ive just replaced the roof panel with a beer can.

These mods dont make it a perfect crawler but its super capable and hinestly after adding the new servos and metal links, I think some traditional foams would do it good.

As mentioned I have plans to continue upgrading. Im going to get Redcat Everest 10 Links and use them to convert to high clearance 4 link, Im going to get weighted wheels and proper tire foams for these Rock Beast II's, and Im going to figure out some way to give it a cooler body than stock whether thats replace entirely or modify this current body. Its already really capable and as Im sure you know it has near 90° flex. Almost anywhere it finds itself, with the metal links, upgraded servos, and tires, it can slow crawl its way out. Im excited to see how capable it gets as I go further.

With weighted wheels I feel it may need upgraded motors. Any thoughts?

Best RC Crawling Spot in the Petaluma/Sonoma area

Hey everyone! This is my first ever post so I apologize for any mistakes. Im here to bring attention to a new crawling and offroad RC spot. I just found it a few days ago and since Id been here last, the creek has changed it a lot. Its now got great terrain and materials for RC crawling. Theres even an area that would be perfect for Traxxas Slash/Arrma Senton type vehicles.

I post this hoping others will begin to use the spot and hopefully help improve and build it. I have just today started building a crawling area and I will include pictures of that. (Note I am not an experienced crawler or track builder, my setup is a home modified Danchee ridgerock with some nice tires and thats it.) I could use some help from people who know the sport better. I dont have any friends I crawl with so Im doing my best on my own. (Im only an hour ir so in but I plan to make a decent little area and continue to build from there.

Overall the area is great, its entirely in the shade under the 101 at the south end of Petaluma, the water is even deep enough for some RC boats Im sure. The only issues I see are, lack of parking (essentially just a coldesac), and its in a river bed, so it may be a seasonal spot as it does see some heavy flow during the rainy season.

Heres the spot: 38.1856629, -122.6007757

It should take you to very south Petaluma where it meets Marin County. From there youll get to a Coldesac and walk along the bike path under the freeway.

If youre coming out consider bringing some nature friendly building materials and obstacles. The dirt is easy to dig and theres water nearby to help compact.
