Escalating immune response

Have been taking Zepbound since late April this year. Didn’t have any injection site reactions until a few weeks ago. Started small and at first thought it was from trying to stretch my 15mg pen (2.5mg dose). Saw my family doctor and she changed the prescription to a smaller pen (four doses in four weeks). Interestingly I have continued to get these welts. At first the size of a dime, increasing now up to about three inches in diameter and they are taking weeks to fade. So it’s not the dose or the pen that is the problem. It seems from doing a little research that smaller red injection site rashes are common but when they keep growing and not healing up within a week, I am likely having an escalation of an immune response. I have four injection site reactions over the last four weeks that are still visible. I may have to consider a change from Zepbound to another GLP-1 drug. Zepbound has worked for me but I’m stalled at a 20# loss and with these reactions only getting worse, I think I will have to change. Anyone else have this experience?

Zepbound cost and trying to get the most bang for you bucks

Started with the 15mg kwikpen counting 10 clicks to give me 2.5mg dose each week. I don’t remember the cost of the first pen but around 600 and change (April 2026). My family doctor thought that the 15mg pen and click counting would save me money and had no concerns about using the pen this way. Fast forward to last dose (#13), where I had a reaction for the first time - rash and felt extra unwell after the injection. I am diligent about alcohol wipes and cleanliness and had never had a trace of even a mark from an injection. Had a visit with my doc and she said I was the first person that she’d seen have this reaction and changed the prescription so I would have a new pen every four weeks. The cost of this pen (2.5mg X 4 weeks) was 312.55 at my pharmacy. I used the Zepbound card that was sent last week to me and the savings were about $2, which was significantly less than first time. Pharmacy said that they also received a bunch of coupons/discounts for Zepbound and had already applied the discount. I guess the 15 mg pen would have been more cost-effective but not worth it for me with the way I had felt after that last shot. Thought that I’d put this here in case anyone else had this experience or had wondered about this. Definitely gonna cost more doing it this way but, worth it not to have the rough experience of that last injection. For what it’s worth, I’m sticking with the 2.5mg dose for now. I’m down 20 pounds and happy with the pace 🙂
