Snow Queen Quest review : Why the characters in the SQQ are so mean ?
I have finish the Snow Queen Quest yesterday and waiting to talk about it cause there was some stuff that felt weird in it.
The quest is great after finishing the SEBEC route cause you are into the dungeons quickly. The route offers a good difficulty after the main story. The tower have interesting ideas to have their own identity and you quickly have access to the devil peak to farm new persona so you can easily have fun with the persona system.
Using a fairy tale has a basis is also grea cause it also one part of the topic of Persona 1.
The SQQ is clearly the part of the game that suffers the most from the PSP ost. At least in the SEBEC route the feeling of the game was different but the OST still work to give specific feeling to it. In SQQ the ost doesn't work as it should for the quest feeling. There is some place
Hypnos and Nemesis tower are great dungeon.
Even though I hate Thanatos cause having to the 2nd floor just to have your persona back and items doesn't work efficiently on them when they don't have persona. The tower isn't that bad, it's a good difficulty and the time limit is huge enough to be safe, the contact helps a lot also.
But if you wanted to have the ultimate persona, good luck because as a first tower everything will kill you.
The Ice Castle was not for me cause I don't like labyrinth that much and it's only labyrinth everywhere. I still hate the devs for the stairs one (I wanted to finish quickly I end up finishing it without seeing the Masked duo so I was like why the hell are they there when they spawned)
Is there a reason for the characters to be so mean in the SQQ ?
I know that the SEBEC didn't happened yet so they didn't have the character development but like there is not payback when they are being piece of shit.
Like Ayase with Toro and she did it 2 times, and it's Toro which is writed as the bad guy cause they made him the guy attacking other with his penis shaped monster persona after being rejected. And Ayase wanted to let Toro suffers in the Nemesis tower.
Even Brown was meanier in the SQQ than in the SEBEC.
And Elly sometimes kinda gives off the feeling "I am morally superior, you should listen to me you are the bad guy" when talking to the tower bosses.
In the SEBEC route the only rude guy was Nanjo, but he got payback and you had Mark to conflict with him about what he said during the route. There is not that much conflict in the relation between the characters in the SQQ quest.
Without Mark, the team almost felt like it has no empathy.
And Yukino is bland, it should have been her character arc cause she is only playable in this route, but it felt like I didn't learn more from her than in the prologue in the hospital.
Now the Masked duo : >!why would they put Maki and Kandori in the SQQ, and because there is Mai and Aki it means it's the true ones ????? I didn't understand this part at all. !<
>!And chronologically the SQQ is supposed to be before the SEBEC but Kandori and Maki are both in SEBEC at that time of the game and Maki consciousness is in the bubble world. It doesn't make sense, is it liked reminiscence of their past ? !<
>!I know SQQ is meant to be played after SEBEC cause the conditions are made to not be easy to do as the first time you played the game but that also means if someone messed around in the school he could start the quest and end up spoiling himself Mai, Aki and Maki's plot twist. That's kinda dumb!<
Did I missed something about the story ? cause it's feel weird that the writing is like that so maybe it's only because I missed something in the story that should have shift my point of view
If people are willing to explain those parts to me or shed some light on them, I would be happy to hear it
