I plan to file a complaint after what I believe was a medication error during my appointment

I have been seeing a cardiologist for the past six months for chest pain and high blood pressure. My doctor has provided excellent care, and I have no concerns about him.
On June 16, I traveled approximately 2,000 miles for my scheduled appointment. When I arrived, I learned that my doctor was unavailable. I had not been informed beforehand, and I was seen by a nurse instead.
During the visit, I explained all of my current medications and symptoms. The nurse prescribed or refilled a medication that resulted in me taking two medications from the same class at the same time. I followed the instructions because I trusted that my medications had been reviewed correctly.
Over the following days, I noticed that my diastolic blood pressure was repeatedly very low, sometimes between 52 and 55 mmHg.
When I saw my doctor on June 30, he reviewed my medications and immediately told me that I should not have been taking both medications together because it effectively doubled the treatment. He stopped the duplicate medication and ordered kidney function tests because of the potential risk to my kidneys.
I appreciate my doctor’s care, but I am very concerned that this medication issue happened in the first place. I believe the nurse should have carefully reviewed my medication list before prescribing or refilling medications. I also believe the hospital should have informed me in advance that my doctor would not be available, especially since I traveled such a long distance.

I intend to file a formal complaint so this can be investigated and to help prevent something similar from happening to another patient. Has anyone been through a similar situation? How did you handle it, and how did the hospital respond?

Title: My H-1B petition was delivered by FedEx but I don’t have a receipt number yet. Is this normal?

Hi everyone,
My H-1B lottery was selected, and my attorney mailed my H-1B petition to USCIS using FedEx instead of filing it online.

FedEx tracking shows that the package was delivered to USCIS, but I still don’t have a USCIS receipt number (case number). I’m getting a little worried.

How does this process usually work?
Does USCIS generate the receipt number only after they open and accept the package?
Does my attorney receive the receipt number by email, text, or regular mail?

How long did it take for you to receive your receipt number after FedEx showed the package as delivered?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

Should I stay with my current employer or switch jobs while on STEM OPT and trying for H-1B?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently working as a Software Developer making $85k/year. I’m on STEM OPT, and my employer has filed my H-1B registration, but I was not selected this year.
My current company is willing to continue sponsoring me for next year’s H-1B lottery. If I’m still not selected, they have told me they can move me to their Canada office and potentially bring me back to the U.S. later on an L-1 visa. However, they do not allow Day 1 CPT as a backup option.
Recently, I received another offer for $120k/year. This company is also willing to sponsor my H-1B. If I’m not selected in future H-1B lotteries, they are open to employees using Day 1 CPT to continue working.

I’m trying to decide which option is better from both a career and immigration perspective:

1.Stay at current company: $85k, continued H-1B sponsorship, Canada → L-1 backup plan.

2.Switch to new company: $120k, H-1B sponsorship, Day 1 CPT backup option.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Which path would you choose and why? I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have gone through multiple H-1B attempts, Day 1 CPT, or the Canada-to-L1 route.

Thanks !
