I’m not even trying to be this Deftones fanboy nor am i trying to be cliché abt it but Deftones genuinely has changed my life and still is. I was always into heavy metal growing up like Slipknot, Korn, SOAD, coal chamber, soulfly, etc. Eventually I found my first Deftones song I liked which was nosebleed for some reason. After I got past their heavier stuff I looked at WP, Self-titled, and Gore and other Shoegaze tracks. The first time I heard pink maggit I had just gone through a breakup and was pissed and also shattered. I was about to skip that damn song but I didn’t and holy shit. There’s no way this can just be me. Also hearts/wires at least has 500 plays total from me that song brings me to tears. Has Deftones done this to anyone else?
Starts from when Shinji enters the Evangelion during the battle with Zereul.
Zereul was intercepted by Eva-01 before it could obliterate the command center. Zereul was pinned against the launch elevator.
“Launch!” Nothing.
“C’mon damnit!” Zereul’s tentacle-like arms wrapped around the Eva's throat. Shinji visibly tensed up inside of the entry plug as the plug suits life support failed. The hum of an AT-field forming rung throughout the central Dogma. Eva-01 was launched backwards into a wall which had shattered on impact.
Colonel Katsuragi shouted, “Shinji! Retreat now! We have a self destruct request going through to the MAGI already there’s no point in getting killed!”
“I’m not gonna run away again.” The Eva got blasted by Zeruel's energy cannon which caused the Eva to fall into the Terminal Dogma entry shaft. A massive splash was heard as LCL was flying upwards. Zereul quickly followed Unit 1 and immediately pushed it with his tentacles. Eva-01 lost its balance. Shinji screamed out in pain as his head and back slammed into something hard and sharp. Looking down, Shinji saw a red pear sticking out of his abdomen.
Lilith’s pale skin wrapped around the Eva’s arms, then legs, then torso, then the whole body. The Eva born from Lilith had returned to sender. New flesh had begun forming from where Lilith’s legs had used to be. Looking down, Shinji saw Rei and Gendo standing. In Gendo’s hand was the first angel. Desperate for power and out of Shinji’s control, Lilith reached toward them both. An immense and controlled AT-field formed in Gendo’s hand. The embryo was slowly carried to Lilith.
The embryo seemed to clip through Lilith’s chest. A brief moment occurred where no sound from anyone near could be heard. That was before the loud shriek, similar to Ramiel's, caused Gendo’s ears to bleed. The original shape of Lilith was no longer. The newly formed legs morphed into a similar shape of the Evas’, followed by the arms, and abdomen, before finally, the head snapped into the shape of Eva-01’s. Adam was back to his first form. Shinji tore the spear of Longinus out of its body. The hybrid’s eyes changed to a deep red. The entry plug went dark. The hybrid was awakened, but was not in the control of a pilot, leaving what happened next up to the god like being created from the fusion of the two seeds of life, each decision left to a being with all knowledge and all life.
The being ascended back to the surface, using its AT-field to levitate. The hybrid roared and raised the spear into the air. Almost immediately, green crosses shot up. Human instrumentality had begun. Shinji, fighting for control, rejected instrumentality, though his will was not enough to halt it.
“Are you trying to be a Martyr?" Words that Auska had yelled at Shinji before the very battling the angel he had involuntarily obliterated.
“I-I.. I won’t let you lose yourself Asuka, or Miss. Misato,” The hybrid snapped back into Shinji’s control. Watching all of the instrumentising happening, Shinji fell into deep despair. Shinji forwarded his anger to awaken the hybrid further, which was now back into his control. Shinji took the spear in his dominant hand and stabbed himself directly in the core of the hybrid.
Instrumentality froze. The hybrid went limp and slammed into the remains of Tokyo-3. A massive red beam of light shaped as a cross shot up in the air, followed by a massive explosion, killing Shinji. Half of the population was killed.
