BERDLY IS THE MOST POWEFUL LIGHTNERD 🐦🔥 (I'm serious)

Okay, okay, I know how that title sounds. Let me cook.

I'm not arguing that Berdly is currently the strongest Lightner. I'm arguing that, based on what he can already do at LV 1, his potential is absolutely ridiculous.

First: Berdly is WAY more capable than he should be

His first Dark World battle is a 3v1 against the Fun Gang on the roller coaster. He loses pretty badly, so I'm not putting much weight on that.

The second fight, however, is much more interesting.

Berdly fights Kris AND Noelle simultaneously in the alley, and that fight is actually pretty damn difficult for a first-time player.

I recently noticed this when my brother played Deltarune for the first time: it took him around 10 attempts to beat Berdly on the normal route. For an experienced Deltarune player, this fight isn't particularly scary, but for a casual/first-time player, this is basically the first real difficulty spike.

And if we accept the SOUL/Kris's ability to retry fights as canon (which the game heavily implies), then Berdly has potentially defeated Kris and Noelle multiple times across different timelines, despite this literally being his second ever fight in a Dark World.

And there's another important detail:

Berdly wasn't even trying to kill them.

He explicitly says his goal is to separate Noelle from Kris. His stats are also lower than during his first battle, especially his HP.

So we're potentially looking at a character who can defeat two experienced Dark World fighters while actively holding back, despite having basically zero Dark World experience.

---

And then you compare him to Susie

This is where Berdly starts looking completely insane.

The first time Susie enters a Dark World, she's basically the strongest Lightner around. Yet during her boss fight, she has one attack: her axe swing.

Once recruited, she learns Rude Buster.

That's basically it.

Berdly, meanwhile, enters his first Dark World and immediately knows how to:

- Summon an energy axe

- Use multiple different magical attacks

- Fight effectively

- Fly (as shown during the Ferris wheel scene)

- And apparently has enough control over his body that he can rotate his head 180 degrees in the Light World

Okay, that last one isn't useful whatsoever, but it's fucking cool.

And again:

Berdly is LV 1.

Susie needed multiple chapters to develop a proper spell repertoire, while Berdly shows up with an entire moveset immediately.

---

Berdly in his bossfight has:

HP: 1,200 AT: 8 DF: 0

Regarding his boss fight: many might think those stats don't reflect Berdly's capabilities if he were in the party. However, if we look at the example of Susie in Chapter 1—specifically when she was a boss—we notice that her stats during the fight against her were the same as when fighting alongside her. Following that logic, those stats truly reflect Berdly's strength, including that massive HP.

These stats are more than competent, but what makes him truly dangerous is what would happen if his Level increased. So, let's ask ourselves: what would happen if Berly reached Level 7?

This is where things get stupid.

To estimate this, I looked at how Lightner stats scale between chapters.

There appears to be a fixed stat increase associated with each LV/chapter, with additional variation depending on how many encounters were resolved violently.

For example, using the midpoint of Kris's HP/AT ranges:

- LV 1 → LV 2: 90 → 140 HP (+55%)

- LV 2 → LV 3: 140 → 173 HP (+24%)

- LV 3 → LV 4: 173 → 220 HP (+27%)

Attack also increases, although much less dramatically.

There is also a variable "violence" component. Violent encounters can increase HP, while accumulated violent encounters can increase AT/MA through hidden counters.

Averaging the level jumps gives roughly:

HP: +30.46% per level

AT: +14.58% per level

Using that scaling and estimating the number of violent encounters available in each chapter, I tried to project what Berdly would look like at LV 7, assuming his absurd HP growth follows the same general pattern.

And the result is...

Berdly LV 7

HP: 5618

AT: 18

DF: 0

Completely balanced character. Obviously.

His AT is actually hilarious.

18 AT.

Kris in Chapter 5 and even Susie in Chapter 3 can already surpass that.

So Berdly has basically sacrificed all of his offensive power to become the world's most durable bird.

---

"But wouldn't 0 DF mean he gets one-shot?"

No.

The damage formula is:

Damage = (Enemy AT × 5) − (DF × 3)

So 0 DF means Berdly takes more damage than a normal character, but it doesn't automatically make him die in one hit.

And with 5618 HP, that's still absurd.

A hypothetical LV 7 Kris would need roughly 45 perfect attacks to kill him.

That's around 14 LV 7 Rude Busters.

Kris isn't surviving 14 Rude Busters.

And here's the funniest comparison:

5618 HP is approximately 77% of the Roaring Knight's HP.

Berdly has accidentally become a raid boss.

---

What about Snowgrave Noelle?

Chapter 2 Snowgrave does roughly 1500–1800 damage, meaning hypothetical LV 7 Berdly could survive around 4–5 Snowgraves.

A hypothetical LV 7 Snowgrave Noelle with the Thorn Ring would deal around 2900 damage, so Berdly could survive roughly two and potentially a third depending on the exact numbers.

And this is where things get really funny.

Noelle must accumulate TP before she can use Snowgrave, whereas Berdly has 5,618 HP (enough to withstand a Snowgrave from the most powerful Noelle) and, presumably, retains his entire offensive arsenal.

Therefore, even though the Noelle who uses Snowgrave possesses vastly superior offensive stats, Berdly could potentially hold out long enough to defeat her.

Which would make the most ironic possible character the strongest Lightner:

the guy whose most iconic moment is getting Snowgraved.

---

The biggest unknown: Berdly's Magic

Unfortunately, Berdly doesn't have an MA/MG stat because he isn't playable.

But he spends basically his entire boss fight throwing around magical attacks, and he clearly has excellent control over them despite having just entered the Dark World.

So I'd expect his magic stat to be pretty high too.

My completely hypothetical estimate would be somewhere around normal-route Noelle's level or higher.

And if that's remotely accurate, then Berdly isn't just an HP sponge.

He's a flying magical HP sponge with an axe.

Wonderful.

---

For comparison: hypothetical LV 7 stats

Kris

«HP: 395

AT: 25

DF: 2

MA: 0

Guts: 5»

Susie

«HP: 460

AT: 31

DF: 2

MA: 13

Guts: 5»

Ralsei

«HP: 315

AT: 22

DF: 2

MG: 24

Guts: 0»

Noelle

«HP: 90

AT: 3

DF: 1

MG: 11

Guts: 0»

Snowgrave Noelle

«HP: 300+

AT: 25+

DF: 1

MG: 35+

Guts: 0»

Hypothetical LV 7 Berdly

«HP: 5618

AT: 18

DF: 0

MG: ~14

Guts: 3»

So yeah.

Berdly doesn't have the highest attack.

He doesn't have the highest magic.

He doesn't have the highest defense.

He doesn't even have the highest overall combat stats.

He simply has FIVE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED EIGHTEEN FUCKING HP.

Conclusion

Berdly is the ultimate Lightnerd.

Not because he's currently the strongest, but because his starting capabilities are completely disproportionate to his experience, and his hypothetical stat growth turns him into the most absurd HP monster imaginable.

The bird has potential.

Super Lord Burgley is HIM. 🐦
