Can I ask a potentially ridiculous question out of genuine bewilderment?

I've visited my parents in Germany a couple times now and I'm continually astounded by how much better and more flavorful German tea is compared to tea available in the U.S.

Even the tea bag brands like Behmer are much more flavorful than American loose leaf and I'm just really confused why?

Note: I'd consider myself a mid-tier enthusiast, so I'm sure there's some wonderful loose leaf options I haven't yet tried. I just genuinely don't understand what brands like Behmer are doing differently and why it's so good.
