Sangre de Cristo was brutal | Savageland (2015)
Seriously, Savageland made me realize that if something very strange and abnormal happened in any country town with a population of 50-100 people, no one would believe the survivors and would label them as crazy or as those responsible.
I was haunted by the photographs and I spent days thinking about it.
This movie really grabbed me when I first watched it, and I recommend that others watch it if they haven't seen it before.
---
The creatures look so strange, their arms outstretched and in positions that make it seem like they are walking, and others are running towards them as if they are being drawn to them.
In this photograph - if I'm not mistaken, 16 are coming towards the fields first, before they overpower the 11 workers and increase their numbers by 27 - That is, if one of the bodies wasn't horribly mutilated and dismembered, transforming into yet another one.
If I were in Salazar's situation, I would know that there's no way to arrive in time to warn everyone and convince them of what's coming; I would have fled east at full speed and abandoned the area.
Based on this city layout, we can assume that after massacring the 11 workers and increasing their numbers, the creatures went straight for the city, surrounding it from three directions before closing in all at once.
Location of the photographs under the layout.
The zombies here seemed to be a mix of things; they appeared to be walkers, others runners, and some were frighteningly intelligent as they hid in the bushes to ambush an unsuspecting person
This explains why practically no one survived besides Francisco. These creatures should behave like the zombies from [REC] + the Wildfire Virus from The Walking Dead, considering Salazar was infected for about 20 months without transforming, It only happens after death.
and to think that all this happened in the dead of night in a deserted open space where the creatures hid and were attracted by the city lights and streetlights that illuminated only the streets – it was the perfect setting to wipe them all out.
These images of the crime scenes, recorded by investigators, clearly show the level of horror that is instilled here, raw and bloody.
Looking at these photographs from the preschool where there were 9 children and 1 teacher waiting for their parents who never returned, all I can think about is the infernal state their bodies were left in.
This film does what few others show: the cruel, terrifying, and depressing reality of a zombie apocalypse.
Everyone will suffer in the most horrific way possible before dying/being transformed, including the youngest ones if there is no one to defend them or hide them from the monster.
Photograph 26 - Man or Woman, being brutally murdered after being surrounded by 5 or 6 of them.
...holy -
What the hell am I looking at...
These things look like demons...
and in the most bizarrely human way possible...
The Earth of the Savageland Universe will face terrible problems when things reach enormous proportions, considering that near the end – it is said that after the massacre, attacks and disappearances will begin to happen frequently in various locations –
- Ajo
- Alamogordo
- Caliente
- Wilcox
- Hilldale
- Rancho Trevino
- Juarez
RIP Everyone...

That being said, I'll give it 8/10 - because the exaggerated way it's portrayed here, even considering all the inconsistencies and investigations, would surely lead people to believe that something abnormal happened and that it couldn't have been the work of just one person.
Besides that final scene which I didn't find very pleasant - as many other people have stated.
