A very toasted Trash Panda (the cat)

Honestly I’m not sure if this one counts because I told the CDS that this cat would be mine one way or another 😂

This is Trash Panda (the cat) and she is Possums (also a cat) sister! The only way I know they’re related is Possum is the spitting image of the mom cat that was always around Trash Panda when she was little.

Unfortunately I don’t have any baby baby pictures of her, when I saw her outside it was more of “I need to get this kitten” more than “must take pictures”. It took me 3 months to finally catch her and honestly it was pretty hilarious how I got her.

I tried everything to catch her, I left a rotisserie chicken on my porch and tried to sneak up behind her while she was eating it. She was sleeping in my yard, also tried sneaking up on her to catch her. One day she was sitting on the porch eating and I went outside to try again. She saw me and hid behind something but wasn’t looking in my direction anymore, so I very carefully walked up behind her and yoinked her off the porch 😂 I did have safety gloves and long sleeves on but luckily she didn’t try to scratch me. She meowed all the way to my bathroom and I left a litter box and food so she could calm down and get used to being inside. She got a vet visit for her very crusty ear, got dewormed and flea meds. It took a few weeks of buying her love with rotisserie chicken and hot dogs before I tried to pet her, I got the first time she purred while letting me pet her on video 🥹 At first Possum was not happy there was another cat, they met through the bathroom door for a couple weeks before seeing each other. Now they love each other and are absolutely bonded cats. She is now a very loved and very toasted inside only cat!

Possum the Cat (with an opossum)

This is Possum! I have had Possum for a little over two years now, she was my first gift from the CDS! Very funny TLDR at the end 😂

There is a very large community of stray and feral cats where I live, my neighbor was an older lady (before she moved away) who fed them so most of the cats would hang out on her porch. Unfortunately since she was older none of the cats were fixed, probably no way for her to financially afford fixing them all as our local county animal services no longer offer free TNR.

The people who used to live in my place didn’t take great care of it so there were random holes in the skirting covered by a bunch of bushes, perfect place for mama cat to hide her babies! The cats were knocking down my heating vents and I’m going to assume mama cat left Possum in there while she was off getting food. I heard meowing one random night at around 3 in the morning that sounded like it was coming from inside my house. After looking around for like 15 minutes thinking I was crazy she started meowing again, I take off the vent cover in my room and she pops her head out a few minutes later. I feel so bad for how I caught her but at least it worked: I couldn’t get her out with food so I recorded her meowing and played it back while I was sitting by the vent. She poked her head out again and I snatched her 😭 Her eye was very gunky at first but of course it’s all fixed now! She hung out in my bathtub with a fluffy blanket and a squeaky mouse for a few weeks until she got used to me. 💜

TLDR: Possum was a gift from the vents, she is the imposter.
