Picture taken during cleaning so a little hazy. Everything is growing pretty nicely. The val has started to cover the back. Would like some more plants on the left though. Any suggestions?

Previous homeowners left a wooden tub full of these shoots. They've grown 30cm in 3 months in total neglect. Google says they're (Chinese) Elm shoots. Could this be the start of a new bonsai hobby or are they just weeds?
Got these two rescues from an acquaintance. They just got transfered here so they're still a bit pale. Are they honey gourami or thick lipped gourami? I know a lot of people have been asking but can't seem to find older posts that are conclusive.
