GeorgiaTech MBA Class Profile (CO'28)- Class size ⬇️, ♀️⬇️, Int'l ⬇️, Vets ⬇️, Stats ⬇️

I guess 60 is the new 100.

Class size was 72 last year, now it's down by 14 students (~20% drop)

International student numbers were around 43% last year, this year it's down by 12% (from 31 to 18)

Veteran population down from 17% to 13%

STEM Majors have increased to 50% (up from 47%)- although by numbers, the previous class had more.

This year is truly testing the Business Schools' strengths and capabilities.

Duke released the international & domestic split in a separate excel. Explains why the current class profile is the way it is.

I don't know why this was released so far apart from their actual Employment report. But the numbers are here.

At least 42 international students are unemployed 3 months post graduation! That's a big number.

Generally speaking, those people may have to return to their home countries given the grace period.

The 24 domestic students unemployed 3 months post graduation still have the opportunity to explore and I'm sure those numbers improved later.

PSA: Don't just look at raw salary numbers. Understand what the true value of that $ is by looking at the PPP.

This is for HBS MBA.

I've made adjustments for the PPP by BEA (Obviously, I used AI) but it painted an interesting picture.

#The real value of the $185k median may actually just be $160k-$170k

UVA Darden just announced their new Dean!

I guess the AI revolution really has taken the schools by storm.

Yael is also the director of the AI initiative at Darden.

Schools like Tuck & Darden (countryside programs) tend to have a greater share of students accepting jobs via school facilitated activities.

I had released the table for this before, and this is a screenshot from the Real US MBA employment report that I had just published a few days back on the website, anyhow available to download for free if anyone wants to see the full report.

I had been sharing more details within the subreddit highlighting how location can play a huge role in helping you land a role post-MBA. If you're not in the right location, all of that responsibility falls on the schools and you're dependent on how much weight the school can really pull.

> UVA Darden pulled the weight for 206 of 352 graduates

> Tuck pulled the weight for 163 of 292 graduates

Through school facilitated activities.

But what's interesting is that if you have the full report you'll also see that NYU Stern has pulled the weight for a big share too- close to 52%.

Data like this is always open to speculation and you can select the schools according to your goals and your personal circumstances.

Darden & Tuck are the two T15s with the highest weight pulled (by share- others won by numbers though) by the school.

Also, if you look at the numbers, you'll see the class size play a pivotal role as well.

It's interesting how all of this ties up to create a picture for the strength of the program.

Has any B-school commented on the GMAT Superscore?

Just a couple of days ago there was a major announcement about the GMAT Superscore.

Has anyone attended any info sessions or workshops with business schools where they've expressed interest in accepting your Superscore as opposed to the regular highest score?

Difficult conversations that you must have RIGHT NOW with the MBA programs you dream of going to!

This post is not for the people whose situation is so desperate currently that they must leave immediately. I know many people who want to leave since they can't live in their current hostile environment. It's alright, you find the best place for you and move on.

This post is more for people who want to ensure that they succeed after making a substantial investment of $300k and 2 long years in an MBA while losing a source of income. Also, I've typed it myself!

Yes, this post is going to be direct. But when you're talking to others, try to make sure you ask those thoughtful questions in a respectful manner from a position of curiosity not entitlement.

THE BIG QUESTION: WHAT CAN THE SCHOOL DO FOR YOU?

Most people have a twisted understanding of what it means to get an MBA. According to them, the MBA will get me a career acceleration and a piece of paper that will get me a high paying job. True and at the same time, the most superficial you can think of. Things get deeper, you need to understand a few more things-

1. School's willingness to help you succeed

This goes for most people but we have to understand how much the school is willing to provide you in terms of resources, expertise and real knowledge that you can apply in real situations than some BS framework most people waste their time with.

2. Power it will help you get

Let's take an example of the devil wears prada movie. Miranda Priestly has enough of a command over the industry to ensure someone doesn't get job elsewhere if she says so. Now, think of yourself as an ambitious leader who wants to either be in the CXO role or an entrepreneur. If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, is the school providing you the right knowledge of the ground realities of the industries you enter and help you understand the game and give you the tools so you can be a powerful entrepreneur? And how much control do you have over your life? How much autonomy can you have for yourself?

3. Respect for your time

You need to understand that if you're a CFA/CPA, you're wasting hours of time (4 hours per day thrice a week for at least 20 weeks: 240 hours) on core classes. Now, think about the instances when people act entitled to belittle you for coming 30 mins late to something like that that's adding no value to you and wasting 240 hours of your time. Respect needs to be a two way street so that the school can really respect your time that you can invest making yourself better in dimensions you currently don't have strength in.

4. Wrong network of people

Nothing would be worse for you than a lazy, non-proactive, and inaction oriented network. A network that wants to see you weak, vulnerable, isolated (no matter the reason) and powerless will only suffocate you. If you need something in the future and you call someone and instead of getting the help you seek, you get an out of context lecture and a refusal to help because they are too inaction oriented against whatever demons you're fighting, that network is worthless. You need to understand what people can really do for you. Try to interact with the Business School students to understand how they'll respond if a certain situation occurs.

The way this process is designed, you will be answering a lot of questions from the school like how you'll act when the xyz situation occurs. But coffee chats are the way you can understand whether the people there can really do anything for you.

Schools have structured this process for you to stay busy trying to butter people up- your recommender, the admissions team, the current students and the alumni. But if you're to become a business leader, you need to understand what they can do for you at a much deeper level.

Easiest way to understand this (TL;DR):

If you're an entrepreneur working in the MBA admissions industry and you're not even able to command control on the industry or have a network of powerful people who will be ruthless for actions you want them to take, and you have to do everything on your own, the school is not adding any value to you despite having significant power in the industry. Now, That's a shame. If they can't even do anything for you in an industry they have all the power in, they can't do anything for you in industries they probably just have a handful of people in.

Finance powerhouses? H/S salary $ strength shine through; Wharton emerges on top (by numbers)

Had shared a similar post for Consulting and Tech before and people raised very logical arguments about some people going into more desirable PE/VC/HF roles.

I used similar extraction and assimilation methods as those two posts for the careers in Finance. Weighted average has been taken where the numbers were segregated- that's a better way though (Harvard, for example).

_________________

💵 Stanford & Harvard's undisputed claim on exclusive industries within finance help keep the $$ high

🔴 Cornell jumps ahead by the numbers with a higher share of class going into Finance

🏛️ Darden gets yet another win and shows it's strength in commerce focused industries.

🟰 Yale & Tuck tied for #10

👑 Wharton takes the crown for the highest number of students going into Finance by a good margin.

Note how the difference in the numbers at Wharton and Booth can nearly fit a Tuck or a Yale in the middle. That's the power of numbers.

Students accepting the jobs in the Southwest (2025) by the numbers

I shared the south before this and I'm certain that some people will ask how the southwest is doing so sharing that too.

AI was used to collect, reinterpret and organize the data so if there's a mistake please let me know.

TAKEAWAY-

🏛️ Duke & Darden have a presence here too just like the South one that I observed

Was not planning on sharing this but I think this chart will help people better since there was pushback on the last post. Numbers matter coz it shows the size & strength (primary), percentage matters coz it shows the share and outliers (secondary).

I had shared a post 3 days ago that got a lot of pushback. You can check that out from my profile as I've kept it open.

People argued with each other whether the percentage is important or the number. A good number of "small school supporters" wanted it to be percentage.

But here's the thing y'all-

Both are important but one is a complement to the other. Why is that?

**NUMBERS SHOW MARKET COVERAGE**

If a school can get more people recruited with base salary reported and more people recruited through school facilitated activities, it shows how many students can the career center effectively handle. You can see that in the bar graph in the chart.

**PERCENTAGE SHOWS INTERNAL COVERAGE**

What share of the class is actually benefitting from the school's activities. It's represented in the line diagram. Now, if you were to draw a line at 45% (a very low share), you'll see what outliers are there.

BOTH NUMBERS AND PERCENTAGE ARE ESSENTIAL.

WHAT DOESN'T SHOW?

Weight carried by the brand. For that I use a different chart with US News Rankings.

Top 30 programs are generally regarded as fairly prestigious. Most of the prestige lies within the T15 but that doesn't mean T30 is worthless.

Program capacity (A): M7 to T30 (*Tap to see full image*)

NA means bad news (*you need to ask the school to release the data in their employment reports or share separately*)

Program Capacity (A) is the measure of the number of students reporting *usable* base salary info.

**Importance:** You get to know what share of students are actually earning the salary reported by the programs on their website.

This is just a part of the analysis carried out by us so I thought I might tease before we release the real employment report for the class of 2025 with useful parameters.

There are other parameters but this was probably one of the most basic parameters that many people ignore so I shared.

*AI was used to collect, calculate and reinterpret so if there's a mistake, please let me know*
