Who actually IS the third death?

I’d think MC would actually be third, or even second. Since a human can go without water for 72 hours, approximately how long MC was staring at Yuri’s corpse for in Act 2. And even before that he loses his personality throughout the act until he becomes JUST the bland camera lens. What do you think though?

Hot take: MC is the most tragic character in Doki Doki Literature Club.

MC, the protagonist of a psychological horror game called Doki Doki Literature Club is the most tragic character. Here’s why.

MC in Act 1 starts of as a fairly normal introverted guy who wishes for absolutely ZERO social interaction. And prefers indulging in the fictional world after he and Sayori grew apart. He is then dragged into a Literature Club by Sayori full of “cute girls”. In summary, he just wanted to be a normal guy. Though he’s quickly put into a position where he has to anchor one of the girls after one of their struggles. While also knowing that his decision on who to romance will anger another. The tragic part is that he, in fact, does NOT have the choice. YOU do. Meaning that no matter what he wants, his feelings are suppressed by yours. Though he is still the one yelled at despite his true feelings not aligning with yours. Because he is your vessel.
Another reason I believe MC is the most tragic character is at the end of Act 1, Sayori confesses her depression to him. MC is reasonably shocked. Sayori had a very convincing happy mask, after all. He then tries to comfort her to his best abilities despite having absolutely no knowledge of depression and desperately tells her that he knows what’s best for her. Though then is met with the reality of the situation: there was no choice he could’ve made to “win” this scenario. As Monika had already rigged the outcome long ago.
Then he’s ripped from this timeline to Act 2. And do I really have to say anything? He now has to deal with a yandere who LITERALLY touched his pen, Natsuki’s homelife becomes way more of an issue with the implication of physical abuse and intense malnourishment. And a fourth wall breaking president. All while the world is glitching around him and his autonomy is being increasingly decreased until he eventually just becomes a hollow vessel. After Yuri inevitably stabs herself, MC is now completely gone. Put in a frozen, brain dead state and being forced to silently watch Yuri’s decomposing form.
Finally, in Act 4, Monika is successfully deleted, and everything returns back to “normal” .. Well, until MC actually goes into the club, and no matter what ending you got, MC is completely erased after Monika destroys the simulation after (somehow) still being alive. And even in the good ending, Sayori thanks US. And not MC, the person who had to literally endure the glitches as reality.
In conclusion, these are the reasons why I believe MC is the most tragic in Doki Doki Literature Club.
