SSD Upgrade - voids warranty/ Applecare?
Hi,
My background is Linux. I haven't bought an Apple product since one of the earliest iPods.
I'm looking at buying a Pro. I think I could save some money and maybe gain some performance by buying a 1TB version and then pulling that SSD and cloning that onto a nice 4 TB Samsung.
Spending this kind of $, I will for sure pay for Applecare. Although this machine will never get anything spilled on it, the idea that that if the mainboard fails just as a defect it will be fixed makes that essential.
Looking at the fine print for Applecare, it says that if the machine has ever been opened, then you're not covered even if that is not the cause of the failure. Any thoughts or experience with this?
I may just have to pony up and buy more storage from Apple.
