Cardiac rehab after ICD shock

Hello,

Have any of you successfully gotten cardiac rehab after an ICD shock event? I am three months past mine, and I've been very guarded about getting my HR up. I've felt that cardiac rehab could help me build that confidence as I've always been decently active and feel lazy currently. I have also been told it may be tough to get insurance to approve it.

Just had S-ICD electrode revision

So, due to my events and no known cause, I went to Mayo Clinic for an opinion a few weeks ago. They discovered that my electrode was not aligned with my sternum how it should be and was shifting off to the left way too much. Not sure if it migrated or if it was put in this way. There are thoughts that is why my VT/VF episode took three shocks a few months ago. It was also discovered that DFT never took place with the initial install.

I am happy to announce though that my electrode has been positioned properly and DFT was done successfully. It's been a very very stressful few weeks. Actually, it has been a scary few weeks.

I have also been referred to QT clinic because there are some suspicions of Short QT, so I will see how that pans out.

Sleep and Anxiety

Hello all! I know that I've posted on here before and gotten some good advice from you all about therapy and things taking time. However, was just looking for further support post-ICD shock in regards to the anxiety about recurrent events and sleep. Sleep has been a big issue for me whether that be falling asleep or waking up at 3am or 4am then I am up. When I do sleep, it is good sleep. I do see a therapist currently. I am on anxiety medication, but as I've said this anxiety is very much real. The hypervigilence to things does not help either. Thank you.

S-ICD and getting a pacemaker question?

First of all, I have not been told I need a pacemaker. With that said, I'm more curious what best practice is for those of us with S-ICD's if we end up needing a pacemaker? Just a question I thought could provoke some discussion.

"Some people are just prone to arrhythmia's"

So, something that just hasn't sat well with me since my S-ICD appropriately fired a little over a month ago was that I had a provider tell me "some people are just prone to arrhythmia's". This was a NP that said this, but it still left a sour taste in my mouth. Keep in mind, my original SCA and subsequent event have no known cause to date. I guess I would ask you all, what is your consensus on a statement like that. Maybe I am overthinking it.

Anxiety medications in addition to heart medication question

How many on here take an anxiety medication? I am currently on metoprolol, amiodarone, and now buspirone. All three can cause light headedness and dizziness. I think it's the buspirone as I am on the first week and a half of it, but I wanted others experiences. Thank you.

Post Shock Anxiety

I have to admit, after having my first incident with the ICD, my anxiety and phantom feelings of it happening again are tenfold worse than after my SCA. I do see a therapist, but any other experience or advice on coping with things? It can get bad at times.

Amiodarone

How many on here have or are taking Amiodarone? It appears that I will at least be on it for 90 days, and then some other game plan will be formulated. The potential side effects are what make me nervous. I've had two separate cardiologists at two separate practices tell me it's the right choice at this time though. What is your all experience with this medication? Just really nervous about everything. I also take Metoprolol.

Help me understand this?

A history about me. I had a SCA in January of 2024 which I survived due to bystander CPR and AED usage. As a result I received an SICD Fast forward to last week, I had my first event with my ICD where it says I had two separate events roughly in a minute-10 seconds-ish. It says VT possible torsades and then I was also told VFib. A cause of these have never been identified. I was reviewing my provider notes today and saw this in my chart from a couple days ago. Help me understand it and what questions I should ask.

"his past EKGs from 2025 where there was subtle notching and slurring at the terminal complex of QRS with ascending ST segment elevation, findings suspicious for early repolarization/J- wave syndrome. Though it is difficult to conclusively diagnose given his clinical presentation, this remains a very plausible diagnosis."

Thanks!

Received my first ICD shock

Hello! This is my first time posting, as I have read before. I received an SICD due to a SCA in early 2024. Earlier this week I received my first shock. I passed out/fainted in my bathroom and apparently had two events total which resulted in three shocks. Looks like I may have been in torsades then VFib. I'm 40 now and was 37 during my SCA. Still processing a lot of anxiety from this latest incident as I rememeber all bit a small portion of it. The anxiety is REAL of it happening again whereas before I thought it may never happen. I have no known cause identified for my SCA event and this most recent. I was hoping this community could provide a bit of support. Thanks!
