How are you making indoor track or treadmill more interesting? How are you managing long runs?

I can't tolerate the heat/humidity even before dawn - asthma on top of just being old & slow. Need some ideas to liven up the indoor workouts. I've got access to a 1/10 mile track, or treadmills, plus the usual gym equipment.

midweek is kinda ok - intervals of some kind typically break up the 45-60 minute workout. I'm kinda dreading tomorrow's 'long' workout though.

How are you shaking things up, staying motivated, dealing with staring at the same thing for 2ish hours, etc?
