Setting a nil

Sitting to the right of a nil and trying to set it is one of my favorite parts of the game. But one approach that I see other players (my partners) utilize that I do not understand at all is throwing aces early. It’s very frustrating. When I bid nil and see an ace, I consider it a gift. I used to chalk it up to my partners not knowing what they were doing, but I was recently playing on the karman app on a flight against the CPU on highest difficulty and my robot partner was throwing aces. So is there an actual strategy here or are they just prioritizing getting their books vs setting the nil?

Saucer Magnolia Training Advice

Central NJ - First time planting a tree, I’m looking for advice on how to train a multi-stem saucer magnolia into a one or two trunk tree.

As you can see from the pics, the tree got rocked by a late frost about a month ago. I’m sure it didn’t help that the frost hit only about a week and a half after transplanting from the nursery. But after some TLC and lots of water, it seems to be on the mend with new leaf buds all over.

You all tell me if I’m wrong, but I’m thinking no pruning at all this year to let it fully recover and get established. But I’m already thinking of next year and how to best set up its future structure.

I’ve got two potential hero-stem candidates, but this is coming from a guy who knows nothing about nothing. There’s the current fattest which has several lower branches coming off of it already. And then there’s the tallest, which is the stem furthest to the right in pics 2 and 3, far left in pic 4.

Understanding that not pruning anything this year may lead to a dark horse hero emerging, what do you all think? Do one or the other make more sense? Do I keep both? Any advice on how to train this little resilient shrub into a full on tree would be very welcome.
