Brand new car sold at auction?

I'm in the market for a '26 and found a listing for a used one with 21 miles on it. The Carfax is clean, no lemon or buyback noted. Weirdly the sticker shows it was sold to some part of Hyundai but shipped to an auto auction.

I've got no idea how this is possible and not sure a car like this is even worth pursuing. The dealership isn't exactly going to be up-front about any dicey history aside from legally-mandated disclosures like a lemon or branded title. But this car doesn't have that.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Is MSRP the only realistic price for LTD in NY?

I’m about to contact dealerships here in NY to locate an Ioniq 5 to purchase since my lease ending in August. I’m loving the current incentives and I’m not sure if they’ll be as good next month.

I’ve decided I want a ’26 Limited in teal with black interior. Here in NY participating dealerships get me a $2k NY rebate. This trim and color combo isn’t too common and I’m trying to set my expectations properly. My local dealership can source one but I haven’t talked numbers with them. A dealer about 60 miles away has the exact car I want arriving in about a week. Another dealership has it on the lot.

Given the limited options, is it realistic to even negotiate a dealer discount? I’m thinking it’s MSRP - NY rebate - Hyundai incentives, + TTL for my OTD price. I’d love to get something more off the price but I can’t see what leverage I’d have. If I go out of state or to a non-participating dealership, I’d need at least a $2k dealer discount to offset the loss of NY rebate. That seems like a tall task.

Any input is welcome. Thank you.
