What do you use to keep sides warm while the brisket is resting?

One thing I still haven’t figured out is how to time the sides around a brisket.

If the brisket finishes early and needs a long rest, the meat is basically taken care of, but then I’m trying to keep beans, mac and cheese, sauce, or other sides ready without constantly reheating them.

I came across a sunvivi three-crock cooker while looking at ways to hold a few sides separately, and that seems easier than trying to coordinate everything in the oven at the last minute.

For those of you who regularly do brisket for a group, what sides hold well for a couple of hours? Do you keep them warm the whole time the brisket rests, or wait until closer to slicing before heating them?

First month with a robot lawn mower: useful, but not fully hands-off

I’ve been using a robot lawn mower for a little over a month now, so I wanted to share some early thoughts for anyone considering one.

My yard is around 400m², with front and back areas connected by narrow paths along the sides of the house. One side has fencing and the other has vegetation, so it’s not a simple open lawn.

Setup was mostly manageable, but it took some patience. The positioning station was the trickiest part. My first location under the roof edge didn’t work well, so I had to try a few different spots before getting a stable signal.

Mapping also took some time. The mower didn’t catch every boundary perfectly on its own, which wasn’t too surprising with my yard layout. I ended up manually driving it through the app to map the edges. It felt a bit like controlling an RC car at first, but I got used to it.

The narrow path between the front and back yard is about 70cm, and it handled that better than I expected. I also added no-go zones around flower beds and a trampoline. Total setup took around two hours.

One thing I’d recommend is placing the charging station on gravel or concrete if possible. Since the mower turns in the same spot when docking, I could see it creating ruts if it sits directly on soft grass.

A few things I noticed after using it:

Bare patches or thin grass can confuse it sometimes.

It works better for maintaining an already manageable lawn than cutting thick or overgrown grass.

You’ll still need a string trimmer for vertical edges and awkward corners.

Overall, I’m happy with it so far. It’s not “never touch the lawn again,” but it does reduce the weekly mowing work a lot once the setup is sorted.
