Will Builds Communities

I've really enjoyed seeing how much Will's building skills have improved. It'll be interesting to see how he applies everything he's learned when he gets back to bushcraft in the spring.

I came to this channel for the bushcraft, but I'm happy to wait while Will gets himself a proper home base to live in while continuing to build his channel. In the meantime, we're getting a rare look at how modern rural mountain life is built in Appalachia, and that's pretty fascinating in its own right.

What I like most is seeing everyone come together. Will has his family around him, he's made new friends, and there are always pets and animals around as part of the mix. Everyone seems happy and healthy. People help each other out, those who have a little extra share with those who need it, and those who need help often find ways to return the favor later. There's a genuine friendliness and sense of community to it all that you don't see every day.

So I'm happy to see Will making progress, learning new skills, and building something bigger than just a cabin. He's building a place for himself, but along the way, he's also helped create a little community around him.

Building Off-Grid Cabin In The Woods Huge Progress

Some pretty solid progress on the property in this one. Three walls of the house are up, Will is laying out the plans for the rest of the build. His dad is also getting an area set up for his glass blowing. It’s starting to look like an actual developed property.

Dale was having himself a good time with the tractor, clearing and leveling some of the road before heading down toward the creek and meadow to knock down a whole lot of brush. The Martins are contracted for another month too, so they’ll be around a while longer.

Will also mentioned getting back into bushcraft by next spring. And apparently some of the promotional deals Will has been working on will help get Dale a backhoe attachment for one of his machines. Not a bad deal for everybody.

Good to see the place moving forward. His girlfriend was there too and seemed pretty happy with how the house is coming along. Just a bunch of people working, building, clearing, and making the property better than it was yesterday.

nOthIn WilL DoeS is guD

Not only is Will building useless structures on the property that are just going to fall apart in 30 years, but he can't even buy the right length of hose.

Who does this he think he is? Giving people a job for the summer who have equipment and experience. The road is just going to wash away and the weeds are going to grow back.

Will's planting grass seeds, but they're never gonna grow.

He's teaching his dog to chase helicopters and fight the other dogs.

And this guy's going to have his baby doing backflips into the swimming pool. I just know it. His girlfriend hates him, he still owes me five dollars, and he's fat.

Zach Helps Will with his Watershed Problem

I thought this was a really cool video. A lot of the comments on this subreddit have focused on Will's flooding and drainage problems, so it was nice to see someone actually getting out there and addressing them.

Zach and his buddies put in some serious work. They cleared brush and trees, leveled and shaped the property, worked on the watershed, and used the tractors to move a ton of dirt and flatten and widen the driveway to the road. Zach also tried earlier to get gravel delivered, but apparently that's damn near impossible out there.

Clearly, there's a lot more to improving a property than just moving some dirt around, and it was cool to see Zach's thought process as they worked through it and really interesting watching the machines do the work. His work seems to have gone a long way toward making the property safer, more functional, and more livable. Zach seems like a good dude.
