Serial killer truckers and prostitution (discussion)

Recently Colorado attempted to make prostitution legal in their state, thankfully this didn't pass and it is still illegal. However, some people are adamant that that law is changed for the "safety" of sex workers. I found myself in a discussion with a social worker friend in my area on this topic and she got quite violent after hearing my take.

My take is Colorado being home to the "intersection" of I25 and I70 which of course both go from one end of the country to the next, makes it incredibly dangerous for that demographic of people (sex workers). Its why Denver is a hot spot for drug trafficking and sex trafficking. Making sex work legal I feel would not only make Colorado almost like a sanctuary state for sex trafficking but it would be like serving up these women/ young men on a silver platter for serial killers.

The FBI recently came out with data suggesting the possibility of up to 450 active serial killers in the trucking field of work. There are around 100 truck stops in Colorado alone, lot lizards being prime targets for these men of course would be filling these stops if the law permitted it. Just seems like an incredibly dangerous idea given the statistics currently. Curious of others thoughts on this as my conversation ended with my friend jumping out of my moving car after calling me a bunch of things I can't repeat.
