I sold tickets via FIFA’s marketplace in June 18 and have yet to receive my refund. FIFA’s repeated generic responses suggest deliberate obstruction rather than administrative oversight. The systematic retention of fan payments allows FIFA to generate interest income on funds that rightfully belong to consumers. This practice is particularly exploitative: fans often finance their ticket purchases through credit cards, paying substantial interest charges to finance FIFA’s temporary liquidity—a mechanism through which the organization effectively profits from consumer debt. Such institutional malfeasance underscores the urgent necessity for governance reform and leadership change. I trust that UEFA’s escalating pressure will prove instrumental in compelling Infantino’s resignation and catalyzing the comprehensive institutional restructuring FIFA desperately requires.
