FIRST BIKE
After 8 years of cycling as a means of transportation in the South Bay.S..J. I bought my first ever vehicle an all black 2026 Honda cb650r. It's exactly as I imagined. Every time I rode my mountain bike down these pothole sprinkled streets l've always wondered what my bicycle would feel like if it had some kind of power output to go faster than my average of 8-12mph.
Before I even got the Cb650r I've had small hiccups. I was told if I passed the MSF course; which I did, I'll do my written tests and should get my DL after that visit. They told me I have to do both written tests. I passed both my drivers written without even reading a book and passed my motorcycle written test on the 3rd attempt with knowledge from the MSF course. I did not get my DL after that visit, they gave me a Permit. I did in fact Complain. I was given a Manager and he spoke Clearly. He said I still need one more knowledge test and I get a permit because I don't have a drivers license for a standard car or any experience with any kind of vehicle. I'm in California and my process forced me to get a learners permit. I cannot ride at night or carry passengers. I thought it was gonna be easy. To this day I still don’t have a DL and since I have a bike now I will eventually make an appointment for that last knowledge test.
Second hiccup was the fact the dealership didn't allow test driving. I was confused at first, the seller said they don't do test rides because No insurance for that and customers never buy after a test ride. He said they've had 600 test rides one year and only sold 2 bikes. He probably thought up of some BS math but i really didn’t even care because a few moments after i sat on the cb650r, i knew the Honda was the absolute correct choice.
I knew from the day I found out about the existence of the e-clutch that the cb650r was the bike for me. I just knew it. I don't know how I knew but I have it. I dropped 12,242.21 on mine with $650 4y warranty.
And after years of cycling, riding machine like this is so much fun and easy. Fun I haven’t felt in a long time since childhood, throughout my teens and through my 20s I’ve been scared and learning to not be scared. I am not scared of anything (except women), I used to be afraid of the dark and the only thing I’m afraid of is unpredictable people (women).
I’m getting way off topic and I don’t know why I’m even posting this. I just feel people should hear my process of getting a bike. Like how I didn’t get my DL after completing my MSF course I spend $425 on. I live in CA. Absolutely no prior experience with motorcycles. Merely only have experience from the MSF and now experience with my own CB650r with a permit. The bikes I trained on at the MSF are way heavier than my cb650r. It’s insane how lightweight this thing is. Every turn and ride it makes me extremely confident and I think that’s a bad thing. A Really bad thing. I do Not want to die and I’m literally focusing on Not dying. I really love this bike, I love the engine and its screams. This bike is getting buried with me btw.
I have absolutely no prior experience with motorcycles and the Honda cb650r is my absolute first ever self-owned vehicle and i seriously made the correct choice… I think.
I can’t believe how great of a machine this thing is. My brother ended up looking at the other e-clutches such as the rebel 300 and 500. I told him these choices are interesting and no brainer simply because they have e-clutch and safer than higher cc bikes. I told him I’m gonna show him how to ride my cb650r with baby steps like the MSF did. Such as allowing him to simply sit on the bike and balance it. It should help him decide if the 650r is too much and to go 500. I have respect for myself and the bike. The bike is treating me well. That’s gonna be the first thing I show him because balancing the bike if he gets one is gonna be a new habit he will require to learn and should be the first thing to learn. I’m confident he will learn just as fast as I did, and if he decides to get the cb650r, twin inline 4 engines during city night rides IS GONNA BE INSAAAANE!!!
