My Google Site is available as an Android app on the Play Store
Hey everyone, over the last couple of months I've turned my Google Site (www.manuelfally.com) into an Android app, and I thought some of you here might find it interesting. My website is just a hobby project, and I'm basically trying to squeeze every bit of functionality possible out of Google Sites.
Since Google Sites has its fair share of limitations, having an app gives you a bit more flexibility and lets you add features that simply aren't possible on the website itself.
The app is basically built around a WebView that displays the site exactly like it does in a browser. On top of that, I've added a bunch of extra features, like a settings menu with things such as a blue light filter, a scroll-to-top button, bookmarks, and quite a few other additions. (You can open the settings menu by shaking your smartphone.)
I've also improved some of the tools I've embedded on the site. In my Morse code translator, for example, the Morse code in visual mode no longer just flashes on the screen - it also uses your smartphone's flashlight.
If anyone feels like giving the app a try, I'd really appreciate your feedback. I'd also be super grateful if you could leave a rating on the Play Store.
You can download it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manuelfally.app
I think an app could be especially interesting for online shops. It can offer returning customers a much better experience than just using a mobile website. You could also integrate ads, push notifications, and plenty of other features. There's definitely a lot of potential.
P.S. I only made the app for Android because it's cheaper (a one time $25 fee for a Google Play Developer account). For iOS, it costs almost $100 per year (too expensive for a pure hobby project).
