Families without AC
I do home care and with the east coast heat wave, i’m discovering a lot of homes don’t have AC or aren’t turning it on. I bring a personal fan but it’s not enough. What do you all do?

I just moved to Manhattan and want to keep doing EI. Are there any agencies that you enjoyed working at? Any agencies to stay away from?
Any info/advice is welcome!!
For background— I’ve been seeing this child since September. She’s gone from babbling to now answering who and what questions so she’s made amazing growth. Her mom seems like the kind of parent who wants everyone else to raise her child. She’s gone through 4 nannies since I’ve been with them and she expects OT, PT, Speech, and SI to teach her child shapes, colors, numbers, animals, etc. PT has already stopped seeing her because of mom.
Since I have a full caseload, I stopped providing make ups and I explained this to all the parents. They also signed something that they understand make ups are not mandatory in our county and are at the therapist’s discretion. This mom has:
I feel like I did all the things I was supposed to. I spoke to mom about the make up policy, I offered her to talk to my supervisor directly so she could explain the make up policy, and told her she could request a different therapist with a more flexible schedule. I finally called the ongoing to let her know I need to give up the case. Ongoing asked for 30 days and I said yes, but honestly with the way the mom has been speaking to me I don’t know if I can do the full 30 days. It’s becoming like verbal abuse from her. I feel awful leaving them without a therapist and maybe there were things I could’ve tried first. I just feel drained.
I’m an EI CF and started with this kid (2;10) several months ago. She has severe hypotonia and can only make the /m/ sound and a few vowel sounds. She’s been getting PROMPT on the side for months but has made little progress.
I told mom that she may be a good candidate for AAC so that while we work on verbal speech, she has a way to communicate with you. Mom said that if we do AAC then her daughter might lose the motivation to speak. After explaining to her multiple times the benefits and having my supervisor come as well, I’ve given up on the idea and have been working solely on verbal speech.
Mom then tells me that ABA mentioned doing PECS with her daughter and that she wants to do that. I said that PECS might be a viable option for her to trial and then see if she’d be eligible for a high-tech device. Mom said that ABA will be doing PECS and that I will be working on verbal speech. I told her that PECS falls under the SLP role and that ABA can come up with the idea and do carryover but they shouldn’t be the ones doing the therapy with it. Also ABA never returns my calls.
Is this a thing anyone has dealt with? Because ABA doesn’t communicate back I have no clue if they’re doing PECS or any type of AAC with her and what that looks like.
