How can I find a permanent, year-round ice rink near me? Is there are term other than "ice rink" that I should be using? (Is this a translation/phrasing issue?)
I figure skate, and I will be visiting Yamaguchi for about 80 - 90 days somewhere between March and August (not sure which dates yet, but I won't be able to adjust the schedule around my skating). I didn't realize that so many of Japan's indoor ice rinks are very seasonal (a lot of sports complexes switch to pools in the summer months), and I'm wondering how figure skaters find ice to practice on. Do I need to search Google using different terms used by locals? If I was struggling to find a rink in the US/CAN, I might also search "figure skating club," "ice sports arena," or a similar term for "private rink" or "club rink." What phrase should I use to find this? Japan has such talented figure skaters; surely, they practice year-round.
